Today's TOGM is flavoured a little differently. I had a hard drive failure :/ My son had tried to get onto a game while I was sleeping but the internet was off, so he went on June's instead. When I woke up, I rebooted to try to fix the internet problem and had an error come up that it couldn't read my drive properly. Damn.

Chkdsk time! Sadly, it stalled at 63% about 5 times :/ Sooooo, I finally broke down and went to buy a new drive... Terabyte for under $100... Technology is crazy sometimes. I remember being astounded that they could fit 1 whole gigabyte on a hard drive.

Tried to load in windows again (I like to play games on my computer ;P) and the bloody disk isn't reading properly or something. DAMNIT!

Soooo, I did the wording on June's Illustrator... You never realize how used to your settings you are until you don't have them anymore. I was trying to use hers and it's got a bunch of different things on it that were just driving me crazy! Smart guides are the debil!

So anyways, it's still not fixed, I'm not sure if I can get my copy of the comics off the drive yet (And I really meant to back them up too!) but I had to go to work. So I'll work on it ... eventually.

Hope you fathers out there had a good Father's Day! My boy made me cute baseball hats out of styrofoam balls cut in half with some construction paper attached, and my daughter made me a cookie which I couldn't eat at the time and may or may not be there when I can.. :D Oh, and June made me a BLT sub for dinner / work food, so WOOHOO!! Ever since I started working here, I've looooved BLTs. May not be what I'd pick for a last meal, but it's pretty high on the list.

Have a great week!

John looks like he's about to deck Beth in panel four. Didn't mean it to look that way. I don't condone abuse against women m'kay?
...Unless they like the odd spanking once in a while?

Anyway, we're 10 days away from move day! It's been crazy-ass-crazy around here! Trying to pack everything up, and there is so much stuff... which brings me to my next point.

Will any of you possibly, pretty please, make us some guest comics? With the move coming up, I need a small, small, small bit of time off from the comic while we get moved and settled in. We're looking for around four non-continuity guest comics (not fan arts) to put up on our regular posting dates for the next two weeks. Any takers? We'd be sooooo appreciative! There may even be prizes or rewards or something for those who do.

By the way, this is not a "hiatus"! We will be back, we promise! Just you know, moving!

PS, sorry Beth looks off on Panel 1. I'm still a WIP ya know. ;)

Just wanted to note how well drawn this page is. Very nicely done.

@Johnny Woah Thank you very much, I really appreciate hearing that. :)

I got that impression too, but the dialogue in the last panel was able to explain it enough. :)

In the second panel it says "You need to walk way John," and I think you meant it to say "You need to walk away John." It's a minor typo, if it IS a typo that is but it does seem to sound weird. Other then that great work as always!

This is what happens when you have to rewrite the text on the fly because the blasted thing wont resize the window properly... :/

Thanks for the heads up, Zanshlou, I'll fix it as soon as I can!

@Magravan: What? A TB under $100? That is not fair! >:(
(Also, woot! BLTs!)

@Skrael: Hey now, no need to make this comic kinky now. Err, kinkier... I may or may not continue reading this if it turns into some necro-BDSM comic.
(Also, guest comics you say..... hmm...)

@MarshmallowGherkin - I paid about $75.. It's twice the size of my last one. I put my OS drive as 50 gigs, an extra drive at 200 gigs and about 750 gigs in a third directory that'll just end up as some sort of storage ;) 200 gigs might be my TOGM directory.. :)

And if this comic turned into a necro-BDSM comic, I'm sure we'd get quite a few more readers lol ;D

if both hard drives don't work, it might not be the drives themselves. test them on the other computer. if they work, then its either a motherboard or software issue on your computer

Currently I'm under the impression that the new drive does work, and that the CD or reader is at fault. It allowed me to format and partition it, it's just not reading a certain file on the disk... Thank you for the suggestion though, I appreciate that people are willing to put their expertise to help others :)

"A PSO Officer"?
Forgive me for being needlessly pedantic, but isn't this a tad redundant?
Then again, I suppose 'tisn't an error for characters to err.

Hmmm... seeing John ready to get into a fight seems out of character for him, but then again we haven't really seen him get pushed around like he was by Chad. Even stranger is that John seems pretty confident he can kick Chad's ass, even though Chad seems a lot bigger. Interesting development.

And depending on if Chad has become an even bigger ass since being zombified, what did Beth see in him to start with?

what can a hot redhead see in a big muscular guy? I wonder.

Hi just read the new page. This is an interesting development in John's character so far he's been fairly laid back. Granted he's been a bit sarcastic and cowardly at times but generally he seems to take this new world really well. Perhaps because he has very little comparison other than obscure facts?
P.S. It just my opinion but I'd prefer it if you left grammatical errors like the one in the panel alone. Personally I find it endearing a reminder that this comic is not one of the many commercialised franchises but one made purely for pleasure by ordinary hardworking people. (sorry I know that's a bit deep for a comment won't make a habit of it though)

@Tezcatlipoca - Another victim of my re-writing, unfortunately. I hate to admit it, but I added in words here and there to make it space properly because June's illustrator is awkward to work with. If I get my computer up and running again any time soon, I will fix it. If not, it'll probably wait until after we move. But no, it's an author mistake. Beth making that mistake would be out of character for her.

@bbedlam - This is one of those instances where his humanity is overriding his good sense. Can he actually win? I'm not sure. He knows how to defend himself hand to hand, he just runs the risk of unintentional zombification. Regardless, this is a stupid fight for him to be getting into... But when you're manhandled in front of the cute girl, sometimes good sense gets overridden. He's definitely reacting to the situation, rather than thinking it out.

As for their relationship prior, it will come out eventually, but the story focuses more on the end of their relationship rather than the start.

@Barrahir - Confidence is an aphrodisiac ;)

@snoog - He is definitely not the typical John, but then, this is not the typical position he's been in either. His reaction seems to fit the personality that I have for him in my head, so that's what I have to go with.

Initially, I actually had him go after Sylene, but I realized two things. Firstly, his pride is hurt, because he was beat in front of Beth. And secondly, he is genuinely concerned for Beth's safety. After all, if this guy is threatening to break down her door, and throw the other guy out, what's he going to do to Beth? In my mind, the combination of the two makes for someone who might just be capable of doing the job.

As for the grammatical errors, I do see your point, and I respect where you are coming from, but in this particular case, I don't think I will leave it. Mainly because it might affect people's perception of Beth's character rather than attributing it to a mistake on my part. Like Tezcatlipoca said, "it isn't an error for characters to err." .. In this case, it is an error. My error. She wouldn't make that mistake.

I'm sure I have enough poor grammar and problems with bubble placement to make it perfectly clear that we are not a professional franchise :)

I too felt this was a tiny bit out of character for John. Then I realized that we didn't see the few seconds where he was on the ground getting ready to explode.

The funniest part though is that john has something Chad never will again. I mean Chad might be able to bench press a truck, but he still can't rise to the occasion. Booyah!

It's the eye placement. Drawing John-boy's eyes facing up and over beth would make him seem like less of a woman-abuser.

...

I've been re-reading Scott-McCloud. Sorry!

Imagine John's world right now.. he's so confused and out of sorts. He doesn't know who is good, who is bad, or really how he's supposed to be reacting to things .. I'm sure that his anxiety has been building up over the past couple of days. This is the second time that he has had his anger flare up.. Remember the one in the warehouse? It seems that he is having a bit of a problem controlling his emotions, as are the rest of the people around him. Especially Beth. Interesting. I wonder where Mags will go with this!

@Two&3/4s - Keep in mind that he's only really had conflict with girls and children outside of the One that he went overboard and killed ;)

@Solem Saje - That's good advice :) She addressed it in the next one to some degree..

@June - I wonder where I'll go with it sometimes too :)

@Lessum - lol :D
