Hope you enjoyed the Thursday helping of TOGM!

We're getting awfully close to 50 comics... That's kind of awesome, really. I had hoped that we'd have introduced certain characters more and that we could have a big animation bonanza for 50, but I've decided to live in reality, and there's no way that it's going to happen for 50. I'm still hoping that we can do something nifty for it, but I'm not quite sure yet... Being the guy who tells the story, it's sometimes hard to make plans when 90% of the work is being done by the artist.

In this one, John's showing that he's unwilling to stand up for his point of view... He backs down pretty quick. I mean, she does have a skull saw (or whatever it's called, June looked it up, I think she knows), but still.. maybe he'll grow a backbone someday.

Awwww, June's drawing the next one as I am typing this... R.Z. looks cute :D

Cameos - Bonejangles toy and Goodbye Kitty

That seems like as good a note as any to sign off on, so this is me signing off ;D

I thought I had a lot of fun drawing panel three, until I hit panel four, and decided to put that silly Oath paper in.. then I had equally as much fun drawing that panel too.

I've been trying to add a little more visual humour to this strip. It was actually kind of amusing. When James first sent me this script, I didn't get it at all. I guess it went right over my head. When James explained it to me, a lightbulb went on and I went "OH!" and decided to add the bone saw. I think that it will help people who are like me get the joke better .. right? Either way, Beth's face was devilishly fun to draw. Fun fun fun.

I live for the days new TOGM comes out. And I guess I am shipping John and Beth...? Is that creepy?
Magravan edit delete reply

Uhhhh.. depends on what 'shipping John and Beth' means... It ranges from mildly odd to excommunication ;)

"Seen" rather than "saw," maybe? I like the model brain up in the cupboard.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Maybe he is shipping them to Zimbabwe, like you always threaten the kids with James.

You're right, smbhax, it certainly is an awkward turn of phrase... I'm probably going to have to go back and change that ;/ I might also take out Beth's suggestion that she'll cut open his head to look closer, since the script originally just said "I could take a closer look", and now with the head saw it sounds awkward as well...

In my (very) professional opinion, the last two panels are the greatest panels this week.

They are great. Expression and pose are great.

"Bone Saw Beth" is great (and would make a cool wallpaper [I will point these epic panels out until I have a TOGM wall!]).

Beth in panel 3... total win of sexy/scary.
Well done.

@Magravan: The third panel's dialogue seems perfectly fine to me!

'Shipping' in this case is when someone supports hints of a romantic relationship between two fictional characters.

John may back down a bit quickly, but in all fairness, he's been intimidated by a redhead zombie with a bone saw. The redhead part alone would be enough for most men...

Yes, i'm part of most men and red heads arouse me as much as scare me shitless. It's exhilarating actually.

@MarshmallowGherkin - June tried to do the wallpaper of the last one you mentioned, but apparently the image doesn't scale well with typical background sizes... Which size is your background?

@Effigy - Thanks ;)

@smbhax - With the bonesaw in the picture, it just seems like the 'open your head' is a little too 'sledgehammering the point home' writing... It's probably not as noticeable as a reader, it's probably just my perspective, since I had to tweak the dialogue after explaining it to June so she knew the joke... And then she made the intent obvious in her picture :)

@Guest who I assume is Al - Oh, okay, that's not so odd then ;) I love the fact that I can present romantic tension, but the fact that they are zombie / human kind of makes it awkward to begin with ;) That way I don't have to introduce alternate weirdness that will get in the way of it... I will, but it's nice not to have to ;)

@bbedlam - That's true... One day though...

@Shaman - Haha :) Score one for picking the right hair colour for the leading lady?
Xenrin edit delete reply
Xenrin
Well, mine's a tiny, little 1280x800 screen...
Wouldn't it work to just crop the image proportionately, and then scale it afterward? Or was that tried already?

It's no big deal really, I just think a TOGM wall would complete my computer. :)

Bth starts to look "catty" or cat-like.
John is so hypocritical.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@MarshmallowGherkin - It probably would... she works in strange, MASSIVE dimensions, so that's probably an option.. I'll suggest it to her :)

@ArtistXXY - I don't know if hypocritical is the word I would go for... Maybe unnecessarily concerned for his own skin?
Skrael (I'm the artist)
5000 x 2445 at 300 DPI is not massive. :P

An artwork I'm currently working on for AngryRob is around 7000x5000 600 DPI :P that's pretty big!

Aww great, you guys already wrote everything there is to say about this page. Guess I have to stick to the usual "I love this page, it's awesome!" again. Dang.

You can never have too many fans willing to restate the obvious... Especially when it's good :D

in the oath he wrote i, john human... so johs last name is human. lol:)

ranger_brianna_new
I approve of John's last name being "Human", 'cause it's something which would make people go, "Nah, no human would be *that* stupid..." and automatically think he's a zombie. :P
...Of course, though, in reality, none of them have last names I've seen. Not that they *need* last names, though. ;)
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Well, his first name is one that was made up on the spot, so his last name could be equally pointless, I suppose ;)

John backpedals faster than Dr. Scott. LoL :) I love Beth's expression in #3, one of these days John's gonna have to play along with her a little further. :)
Beta Maxis (Guest) edit delete reply
Ok now this is just WEIRD. Is not seeing the green stuff a zombie thing? Maybe Beth's ticked because she's a doctor and stuff isn't a very scientific sounding term.
