Wow.

I did not expect to get all those characters drawn into this one.

They have the entire system in place now where people live and die. Their brains are harvested and fed to zombies, with the heads being taken into the VR system. Since they control every aspect of the society, they've created a belief system where the head is removed post death.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this one, especially the Sack Brigade representative. When next we see them, we'll be shifting gears yet again.

Have a great week!

I wish the details of this comic showed up a lot more than they ended up. Especially since the statures got pretty much all covered up.

WOW!

Not what I expected at all.

Why does the Little dude look like Phil C? ;)

By "The Island" do they mean Australia (because it would have lots of people by then)?

Is that another John in the long line of clones, or has the original been zombified?

Love the Phantom, at least he kept his patch. :)

asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
Now I'd like to see you do a cosplay of this version of phantom :-)

Me too :D

Because the Sack Brigade needed a representative :D

Yes, it's Australia at this point :)

This is another John in a long list of Johns :D

Glad you like him :D

Whoa, a six? So does she have to go to free up that enlightenment for everyone else?
I love all this -- the statues, Phantom's flowing locks, Sully's clean outfit, Katie's see-through dress, Alexander's tinfoil Mitre, Sylene's tears, Security Guard's knitting needles, Sack Brigade complete with sack and emergency rope...
I might have to update my Sack Brigade cosplay!

(wait, is that Sack Brigader me? :D )

Yes! I asked June to include a cameo in the Epilogue, and we thought that because you had cosplayed the Sack Brigade, you'd make a good representative for it :D

That is so cool! :D
I have to update my cosplay, starting with hitting up ebay for surplus or costume vestments.

Pretty easy if you ask me, he just needs to climb to the top of an Ugly tree and fa... Oh sorry Phil! ;)

Couldn't resist... :)

She has to avoid the Overmind getting too coherent :) Giving back Enlightenment is just a side bonus.

I thought June did really well on giving people relevant things :D
The Leaking Pen (Guest) edit delete reply
what does the pose on the statues mean? from heart to head?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
I think it's meant to convey Enlightenment via brains.

.... but but but.... wait WIFE?! I get all the items except sylene's dress. Also katie's armband, haha. Infinite restarting arrow. Good one.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Also, Katie's lock pendant is also supposed to be a compass, but I doubt that was apparent in the drawing as the details were too tiny to draw :)

I've mentioned before that I was trying to hit really significant points that give a sense in what's what. By Sylene adding that last bit, I indicate that they've been married, but I don't have to show it.

So while we are showing the progression of their society, we are also leaving plenty of room open for other romps in TOGMland, should we ever want to come back to it.
model S edit delete reply
model S
So... does beth marry each john, or does it count one john, all versions. O.o

also.. katie's dress is seethrough! That looks really cool.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Beth is married to John.

A portion of John's mind / experiences is passed on to the clones directly. That's why Clone John said that he remembered Beth and RZ.

The fact that he happens to incorporate many different clones throughout doesn't change the fact that he is John throughout them all.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Sylene's just dressed in her iconic purple and yellows - couldn't think of anything good for her! :/
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Shoot! I could have used her blue cloud somewhere .. oh well! Too late now. :D

Yea the blue cloud. Oh! Add it on her butt! No one will ever notice!

We never see her right breast, just say the cloud is on her right breast. Problem solved.

Are you trying to get me to make another picture of High Preistess Sylene? :D

Umh... maybe. Ok. Yea. I totally am. I love her outfit and would like to see more of it..

So, does this mean that the zombie "race" it's going to eventually "die" out and allow humanity to flourish again?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
No, this means that they will exist, independently. The People will be born, grow and die. When they die, their brain will be harvested and given to a One.

As they level up, it slowly pushes the top tiered up, and eventually those people will reach Sixhood, and will need to allow themselves to die so that the Overmind can't take control again.

So basically the humans get to live, but are harvested when they die. Due to the control that the Enlightened have over their society, it is unlikely that they will ever become the dominant species on Earth again.

So... question, robert was the first zombie... enlightened.. whatever... did he create the green stuff.. the overmind? Is that what we should call the green stuff? ...the green stuff really needs an actual name. Maybe... bob's goo? Bobbbert? Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue, ladies love it. But anyways... yea did he invent it?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Yes... I thought it said explicitly in the comic that he invented it.
model S edit delete reply
model S
I don't remember anyone saying he invented the green stuff, he started the enlightenment, and he was the first enlightened was stated flat out, and I remember something in the flashbacks of tom and another guy calling him crazy for the idea, but I don't remember anyone saying in no uncertain terms robert invented the green stuff. Side note, even if he can't see it wouldn't he remember creating it?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
The Green Stuff is Enlightenment. It is a distributed intelligence resulting in the Overmind. And 'Green Stuff' is the name for it :)

Whenever we discuss it, that's what we call it.
model S edit delete reply
model S
Ok. That works for me. Green stuff it is. So then they did say he created it, just not specifically mentioning the green stuff because they didn't know of it or didn't remember it, or can't know because the overmind prevents it. But again, wouldn't robert remember inventing it... o.o
model S edit delete reply
model S
Y'know, the only thing that really saddens me about this ending forever is that I never made it in as a cameo. Maybe I will make it into fuss and shush...
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Robert remembers inventing it, but doesn't connect the dots. In the same way that the Green Stuff is invisible to them, it prevents them from making the logical connections needed. As Thomas mentions, he has some glaring blind spots in his intelligence.

And as for a cameo, you got a character in as a cameo. If you recall, RZ has a Soja toy.

June asked me to stop offering cameos for people, because it made it harder on her. But, for the epilogue, I wanted a recognizable person for the Sack Brigade, and due to PhilC's cosplay, he was an ideal choice.

I'm not sure that we'll be doing many cameos in Fuss and Shush, whether it's characters or people. We'll have to see.
model S edit delete reply
model S
Ah. Ok. That makes a lot more sense. Now I get it. So the shared intellegence only lets them keep memories it deems ok. Meaning, for example had someone found a way to. Restore the zombies to human, and somehow restore the brain, the overmind wouldn't let them have that particular memory, because it endangers the overmind.

And yes I had forgotten about that. It has been awhile since I went through the archives.

Problem #8

Where should we put all these Humans?

The population of Australia was approximately 36 million people before the Zombie Apocalypse.

It dropped to 0 until it was repopulated by John and Beth’s Benevolent Relocation Program.

If they started with a population of 1,000 cloned humans and experienced a population growth of 2% annually, how long before they reached their pre-apocalypse population?

If they must replace John Clones an average of every 50 years how many Johns will be needed over the years?

If Saint Katie continues to work 75 jobs per year, and gets hired once for every 3 applications she puts in, how many job applications will she have filled out over the years?

Finally, if Sylene Cries 2 cups of tears for every John Clone that dies, how long before she over fills the 50 gallon capacity Sacred Vat of Sister Sylene’s Tears? How many Backup Sacred Vats will she need before the target population of 36 million humans is reached?

Use your brains and show your work.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Okay, step 1: Figure out how many years.

Using the formula for compounding interest, but solving for the number of years, Y = years, r = rate of interest, A = the final amount, P = starting amount.

Y = (1/r)(A/P - 1)
Y = (1/0.02)((36000000/1000) - 1) = 1799950
Y = 1799950 years

So we basically come back with 1,799,950 as the number of years before they reach 36 million people again.

To find the number of Johns, it would by 1799950/50 = 35999 Johns, counting the first, an even 36000.

Katie's job applications are 75*3 = 225*1799950 = 404,988,750

For Sylene ... uhhhh.. I have to go look up the conversion for cups and gallons. Honestly, get with the Metric program, America!

Okay, so we have 1799950*2/16 (2 cups per year, 16 cups per gallon) which comes out to 224993 backups (it was 3.75, but she has her original one, so we round up and subtract 1)

Err yeah. I admit, I didn't know the forumla for compound interest based on time, so I had to go look that up.

Learning!
Annoyingstoryproblemguy (Guest) edit delete reply
WOW! You pretty smart... :)
model S edit delete reply
model S
There's a mistake on the job aps, she fills our 75 a year, it doesn't matter how many time she is hired, it should be simply 75*1799950. It asks number of applications filled out over the years only. Nothing else.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
I think you're misreading the question.

"If Saint Katie continues to work 75 jobs per year, and gets hired once for every 3 applications she puts in, how many job applications will she have filled out over the years?"

Hired once for every 3 applications means that you take the amount of jobs that she successfully gets and multiple it by 3. She still have to write / submit 2 failed applications before she got the job.

X = Applications needed per job
Y = Jobs successfully achieved
Z = Number of Years for which this happens.

If the final question had asked "How many jobs has she had?", then you're right that it wouldn't take into account the fact that she had to write 3 applications per successful job.

Unless you're talking about the fact that Katie always gets hired right off the bat, but we have to suspend our disbelief with regards to the questions. Even if they grossly underestimate how much TOGM RZ can eat.

Just a heads up, the comic pages will be delayed in going up. June is working on the last two pages at the same time, and we're probably going to post them both (along with something small at the end for people to land on, so they aren't spoiled when we put both up) within the week.

We hope you'll enjoy it when it comes out :)
