Yay! Early update!

Hope everyone had a great week. I wasn't sure if this was going to be ready on time, mainly because I hadn't written it yet...

Gist is that we realized that Sarah was talked about as though she was gone for the rest of the comic, but .. this is TOGM! 'Dying' is not a very big deal...

So as much as I hate to heap insult onto injury for Sarah, we had to add this strip to get rid of her more permanently.

When we see next weeks comic, I'll explain the issue further, and why this had to happen exactly as it did.

Have a great week everyone!

I was imagining something worse happening when Beth left, those ropes weren't tied very well, I was imagining that she would escape the room and go after John (or newly released clones) and John would be in a position where he'd have to kill her... so I like this ending. Poor John has enough to deal with.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
I'm not sure if John could have killed her... He has an appreciation for them beyond what he did when he first started out, and despite his unfortunate rejection, he did care for Sarah.
asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
I agree with that, I doubt he would want to, but I thought that she may end up on top of him again and he wouldn't have any other means to hold her off... ohh the feels that would've invoked.

If I were considering rewriting the later portions, that might have been viable, but the rest of the comic as it is written wouldn't have worked if John had been forced to kill her, I don't think...

Having to shoehorn this page into the story to make up for my massive oversight meant that it had to go down in a particular way.

Yep, that's a bit more permanent! Maybe Robert hid something of use in his brain-busting bust?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
He did not :) This strip was added after the rest was written, and the bust was one of June's additions.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
And a brilliant addition I might add! How clever way to have Robert once again in this story. James had originally just wrote "something heavy" in the script. *buffs nails on chest*

Robert's revenge... :)

More like Robert's still contributing to society! :)

That's not contributing! Poor Sarah.

I told you beth would become hot again. But anyways, oh noooo sarah got splattered but it helped john solve the enlightenment delima. So... woo?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Definitely a qualified Woo.
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
So, the question remains, will john be able to replicate enlightenment? Or will he lose everything... the suspense is killin me!

Magravan
The next 3 comics should make things clearer.
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
Oh good, I was worried you would just leave us with this. XD I couldn't even type that without laughing. You guys haven't missed an update and made good on every promise. There's no way you would just leave us hanging.

Magravan
Thanks, I appreciate that :)

Always. I'm actually pretty excited for fuss & shush. By the way still working on those costumes, but I'm doing a shyguy this year.

I laughed. busted indeed.

also, for some reason the next button goes back to the start

That's weird... I can't replicate that error...

If you have No filler pages on (somehow.. it got broken with a Host update a while back), it might bounce you to the first Filler page?

Is John going to think Beth did this on purpose?

Will Beth degrade slowly, or all at once become a 1 again?

I guess either way, it's a Bust...
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
You'll see how John takes it in future strips :)

Beth degrades slowly, but is at the level of a One again by the time we check in with her again.

PROBLEM #5

NEVER ENOUGH AMMO, BUT ALWAYS A SURPLUS OF ZOMBIES.

A lone measly survivor is held up in a tree fort with a shotgun, 400 shells, a machete, and a broken leg.

He is hopelessly surrounded, by a massive horde of Zombies, with no chance of escape.

Only 4 zombies at a time can ramp up to, and attack, the small fort’s 3 windows and 1 door.

He is trying to conserve ammo, so every time he is down to 1 zombie climbing in, he uses the machete to kill it with 100% efficiency.

He can shoot zombie’s heads with a 90% kill rate per shot, and a 25% chance of killing a second zombie (just behind the targeted one) with each shot.

If confronted with a hoard of 1,000 Zombies, how many can he kill before he must use the last shell on himself?

Show your work, and use your BRAINS!
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Just so I understand correctly, the 25% only applies if the first shot was successful?

400*.9 = 360, so of his 400 bullets, he will successfully kill 360 zombies he aims at.

360/4 = 90, which represents the amount of zombies hit as a secondary target.

360 + 90 = 450.

Because he uses the machete to dispatch every 4th zombie,

450/3 = 150*4 = 600.

Meaning that if he used all 400 bullets, he'd kill 600 zombies.

Since he'll need the 400th bullet for himself, we can remove 2 zombies, one for the bullet he doesn't use, and one for the machete kill he can't make.

600-2 = 598?
Annoyingstoryproblemguy (Guest) edit delete reply
Very good!

I had a slightly higher answer because I estimate that every shot (hit or miss) would have a 25% chance of killing a zombie in the background (thus I re-worded my original draft to say "with each shot".

I understand the confusion though, so I will give you full points. :)

Oh and thanks for letting me post these!

My pleasure, they are fun :)

I'm working on Math stuff on Khan Academy just to get good at it again and offset the bad experiences I had in high school.. So this is right up my alley :D

@Annoyingstoryproblemguy:

Here's one for you:
Tom sees 10 birds on a wire, he shoots one, how many are left?
Snoog (Guest) edit delete reply
None the birds would all fly away
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
Wrong. 10 would remain. Thomas is dead.
Snoog (Guest) edit delete reply
This is good is nice to see Beth again as herself. Hope John shaves now
Was wondering though:
You explained that every time someone you' bitten eats you get more enlightened?
Beth regressed and most zombie that survived are hooked up to a machine just to not fade away fast
So disturbingly Beth most aha drained Sarah dry. Either that or it's just a convenient way to resets le th ststis quo
Magravan edit delete reply

Regaining intelligence is different than gaining intelligence. Lack of intelligence by starvation is quickly restored when they are given either TOGM or real brains.

Unless you're talking about Looks, in which case, she used her time with intelligence to fix herself up.

Stupid auto correct. Serves me right for not making an account so I can't fix my errors
