Hey guys, I hope everyone had a great weekend!

So... Enlightenment!

Skrael pointed out a massive plot hole in my script, so we're currently considering that. This might delay the next strip, but if that's the case, we'll see about posting two in one weekend.

Have a great week!

OK let's see (Questions and observations)...

1- Did Beth just bite her, or actually crack her skull open and eat her actual brain?

2- How much smarter did 1 more brain make her, and for how long?

3- Beth doesn't seem particularly upset about killing Sarah. Is she jaded, or does she really hate Sarah? Or, has it just not sunk fully in yet?

4- Why didn't Sarah attack John immediately?

5- Is that the famed Emergency Rope, or just a cheap copy?

6- Nice flowers...

7- What is the badge Beth has on?

8- Were the effects of eating the brain, and turning into a Zombie instantaneous, or did John sit back and observe for a while (like a true mad scientist)?

9- How long does it take a clone to ripen?

10- Who killed Chad, and why didn’t they get flowers and a badge? ;)
Skrael (I'm the artist)
I'll answer what I can! :D

1) Just bit her in the neck
2-3-4) James will answer
5) It is indeed the famed Emergency Rope. You can also locate the rope a few strips back when Phantom and Sylene are rounding up Ones. Emergecy Rope gets around (everything)
6) Thanks! They smell good, too!
7) The badge is a Smelly-Goode stick-up thing duct-taped to her coat
8) I believe it to be instant, but James knows for sure!
9 and 10) Deferred to James ;)

2. It makes her back to a 4 briefly, minor amounts of boost overall.

3. I guess I would describe it as not having sunken in.

4. She's not starving yet. Same reason that Thomas didn't immediately attack the other two.

8. He was looking after Beth... He assumed that Sarah was basically dead, and wasn't going to become Enlightened.

9. They get more ripe with time.

10. Maybe they did?

Thanks!

I'm still waiting to see where this is going. :)

Good on John for figuring things out! Not that I can -- I'm pretty sure the flowers, fly strip, air fresheners etc. are efforts to keep the zombie smell down, that's about it. Nice to see Beth mostly back to her old self, temporarily at least. Chad, Sylene, and now Sarah. Don't mess around on a zombie, that's for sure!
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Yes, they are definitely to keep the smell down. June's having fun with those :)
Guest (Guest) edit delete reply
Indeed it is an air freshener :D Beth normally makes herself smell nice and also while she is not in a state of decay (thanks to constant up keep of her prosthetics and whatnot) she did not offend John's nose. After several months, however, even he had to try to do something to cover up the death stench. Doesn't Beth sound sexy now? :D

Also Panel 4 took me about 4-5 hours alone to draw and colour. *PHEW*!
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Oops!! Above was me. And I meant panel 6 - -the last one - took me so long to draw and colour.

She didn't eat the brains: she infected Sarah with The Overmind.
That's why Enlightenment can't happen with just cloned brains: they need actual living people.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Correct :D (I think!)

Magravan
Exactly :) People with autobiographical memories :)

So am I safe to assume that the shorter they "lived" the shorter the period of Enlightenment is for the one that bit them?

And BTW: What does she mean with "That... makes three."?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
No, just the more they've lived, the more likely they are to be capable of Enlightening someone.

And "That.. makes three." is a reference to how many people she's converted to a zombie. Previously, she had only converted Chad and Sylene.
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
Oh, right... should've picked that up about three converts.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
I agree!
asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
But... are there other female clones? It'd be hard to have the zombie society back without a good food supply. Or does John plan on making Beth enlightened to six?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
There are other female clones :)
asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
Skrael, is your favorite color purple? I've noticed that the women in the comic tend to have a fondness for it. (Not that I mind, purple is one of my favorite colors too!)
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Haha actually Green is my favourite colour! But I don't think it's a very feminine colour, so I choose Purple, which is my close second. On the other end of the spectrum, I dislike pink, though Sylene does wear a lot of that too (And I like Sylene) So go figure? :D

Chad can infect an average of 10 humans per hour, and each human he infects can infect an average of 10 humans per hour, as can each subsequent infected zombie.

How long will it take (on average)for a population of 100,000 pathetic sniveling humans to be overrun?

Assume no other variables.

Show your work.

I smell the foul stench of calculus on this one, which I never took, but roughly, Chad's 10 in the first hour, 10 more plus 100 from the first 10 in the second hour, adding on 10 plus 1,100 in the third, 10 plus 11,100 in the fourth, and 10 plus 111,100 in the fifth, so I'm going with a bit under five hours.
Annoyingstoryproblemguy (Guest) edit delete reply
That looks good to me. :)

Why do I get the sense that we're doing your math homework for you? :)
Annoyingstoryproblemguy (Guest) edit delete reply
Shhhhhhhhh!

No really I graduated long ago; I just wanted to contribute to the discussion in some small way.

I did, however, locate several zombie themed story problems, that teachers can use as aids, to make school entertaining for young impressionable minds.

I wonder what’s next, perhaps some Stephen King picture books for preschoolers? I want Salem’s Lot and the Shining…

You keep making them, I'll keep reading! :D

Love that last panel, I never designed any 3D elements.. how long did that take?
Skrael (I'm the artist)
As much as I love designing my own 3D elements to use, I did not design this one myself, unfortunately. I would like to state though that more often than not when I use 3D bases for the comic, I do design them myself! This one would have likely taken me days to complete, and since it already existed in my runtime library - YOINK! ;)

Why is there a handprint on one tank?
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
That's a hand sticking out.
The tank lid is fully opened.
