Hey everyone! I hope you've enjoyed your weekend!

I liked a bunch of the things that June included in this. Chekhov tied up, electronic microscope like Beth had previously suffering the same fate... RZ's drawings on the whiteboard :D

Annnnd, in case anyone was wondering, this was the third romance option I'd considered. The human clone girl :O

I intended to ask Yvonne Strahovski for her permission to use her likeness as Sarah Walker from Chuck, but I'm not very good at Twitter. Sooo, this is just a girl who looks sort of like her. Like one of those celebrity impersonators ;D

Anyway, I hope you guys have a great week!

Also, does anyone have issues with panel directions? We're working on this stuff so that Fuss and Shush can have more dynamic paneling.

Also, sorry for the text size, if it's too small. Sizing it down seems to have taken a toll.

I don't think I did a very decent likeness of Yvonne any way. :) But I do think that she is a pretty blonde girl.

Hope you all like this so far, I'm really digging the story that James has written for it. Can't want to show you more!

Let's see, your girlfriend is a brilliant fiery redhead, who eats brains, and you are making her jealous, Sounds like a Plan...

Which makes me wonder if anything else happening was part of a larger "Thomas Plan" that John is now playing a part of.

Oh and Belated Welcome Back!!!

Magravan
Definitely not a Thomas Plan.. :)

Excellent looking page!

...you can solve difficult panel direction by leading the readers eye via the word balloons! (no need on this page but here's a example.)
Have Beth's word balloon in panel 2 break the border into panel 3. Repeat the same with Thomas's balloon into panel 4.. or maybe just lead into it..
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Would that not cause some distraction when the next bubble is significantly to the left of it? It would make the eye have to scan across the art to the left.

I can totally see what Peter Palmiotti means here. Having the first word balloon of a new panel partially overlap the boundary of the preceding panel would draw the eye along from one panel to the next. It's a nice trick to make panel order obvious. Not sure it would work as well if those three panels had been meant to be read clockwise, but in this case it would work quite well.

I will keep that in mind, thank you both :D

I told you to overlap too ;)

Just sayin' :)

Oh beth. You would call shenanigans if she liked skirts or was recently unfrozen.

When he just so happens to picture the super hot girl as a lab partner? I'd be suspecting his motives too.

Pure luck I assure you... wait... the clones can obviously have sex, but can they reproduce? On that note, why can't the vr system use clone bodies like in avatar?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Yes, they most certainly can reproduce ;O

The VR system can't use the clone bodies because it doesn't work like that. Robert didn't want anyone knowing about the clones at all, it doesn't make sense that he'd make them Zombie fun suits.

(But I do think I see where you were going with that.)
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
Good because I wasn't sure if I got my point across. I will say that if he did have the clones and they are all "humans", and as far as I understand, memory is the key, why not put the humans in the vr machine, then feed them to the ones, triggering everyone above to level, and reducing the number of ones.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
He didn't know that memory was the key. All he knew was that Clones didn't trigger enlightenment.

And apparently I misinterpreted where you were going with that. I was expecting you to say use the humans like in Avatar so that Beth could get with John. :)
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
No no you got the other part. I was just saying if the ones used the bodies in the vr machine, the bodies would have memory, allowing them to be chomped, but not produce more ones, allowing infinite leveling with no more ones produced.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Every time someone new is Enlightened, it creates a new One.
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
Right, but the bodies would go offline once chomped, preventing regeneration, I think robert could bioengineer that, simply put the clones would be zombie proof, but their brains would hold memories of ones in the vr system, when the clone got chomped, it would instantly decompose, preventing a new one, but the brain would still provide enlightenment due to the memories of the one using the body from vr.
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
I think that made some semblance of sense, probably not. But like I said this is just theories and ideas of ways robert could have used the vr system and ones to fix the world. Or at the very least prevent anyone above a one from de-leveling.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
The creation of a One is necessity for Enlightenment to occur.

The memories they are feeding on are not a metaphoric memory. They are the actual chemicals and structures within the brain that house autobiographical memories.

When the Green Stuff is able to interact with those things, it gives it the energy it needs to multiply and form the structure to make it a One.

The problem with Robert is that he didn't know about the Green Stuff, and it was actively inhibiting him from knowledge about it.

So to come up with a system that involved what you're talking about would be like trying to put together a puzzle without being able to see or feel certain pieces near the middle. But even more than that, looking at the picture with the missing pieces and believing it to be complete.

That is why Robert had to die in this story, and why it is John's story, and not Beth's or the Phantom's. John can at least see the holes that the Green Stuff hides from it's victims.

Belated welcome back from me too - it's looking lovely so far!
What's with the zombie rabbit picture?
Is that a clone of Sylene?
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Thank you!

And actually, that is the logo for our new-found 2 person corporation: Bunny Rampant Studios ;)

No, that's not a Sylene clone. None of the zombies in our story have correlating clones.

Except Zombie Thomas now, I guess.

Edit: Her visual design is loosely based on Yvonne Strahovsi as Sarah Walker from Chuck.

Missed this so much
Thanks for wrapping it up

It just occurred to me if John get together with this's girl he could restart the human race. Beth as a zombie will still look yoing literally for ever while John has what 25 years maybe 30. So it could be interesting as a human's the rational choice, doubt Beth will see that.
However that assuming the new human can cope with an extinct race and that she essentially has no last childhood and is expected to help virtually straight away. Ahem awlward

There is certainly the allure of human on human contact there ;) That was going to be a big portion of the final chapter, with Beth slowly declining and Sarah being there.. and human...

Either way, it ends the same though ;)
