Hey everyone, I hope you're having a great week so far!

I realize that this probably feels pretty... text-wall-y compared to normal. I kind of stuffed a little more revelation than I originally planned into it.

I wanted to show the past of a few of the characters who have been around, but not really given any past or explanation. I really wanted to show Katie's past.. I'm not sure if this explains her behaviour to the extent that it would have if it was drawn out over a longer period, but I wanted to at least give that one.

Anyway, a whole lot of rambling to say almost nothing.

Have a great weekend, and we'll be saying farewell on Monday... At least to the main story. We're going to have some extra art afterward, and there might be something special to send off :)

ya all the great leaders have had a few beheadings under their belt
T.Gatto edit delete reply
WOW! When you put it that way, bring on the Zpox!;)

I'll try to have 1 piece of Fan art to you soon.

@neon - you beat me to it
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
So: Katie's been making the most of her second life by doing everything she never did as a human; Beth got the chance to spend forever with her son; what did Alexander do that landed him in Death Row?
And I want to know RZ's background!
Magravan edit delete reply
@OnlyFoolsAndVikings - I'm tryyyying!

@neon5162 - Historically, that's ... probably not entirely inaccurate.

@T.Gatto - Why? Are you planning on being on death row soon? :)

@the_brigand - Neon beat all of us to it...

@aok666 - Well, yes, Katie is living it up to make up for leading a pretty boring life as a human, Beth got a second chance at life and being an active parent. Alexander criminal past was sealed when he signed on as a PSO, so I can't discuss that ;)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
You still haven't told me RZ's past. Don't cheat.
asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
Well that explains Katie's melon jiggling, she missed having young ones that she could do that with :P

Will John become a zombi? I know R.Z. Would never intentianly hurt John but t him brains at just a tasty treat he might not grasp John needs them Both are out of sight by end of this strip if John died it would be sad cause the answer to what the green writing says would die with him. It would be a cool twist though. P.S. know I'm wrong had to put in one last idea though
Gonna miss guessing what happens
PhilC edit delete reply
Since they are all zombies, I'd like to think Phantom was toting that pistol around in his stomach or something.
They're more alive now than when they were alive - very cool!
Marlox (Guest) edit delete reply
John definitely has his arm around Robert in panel one, and is looking rather sheepish. What kind of a moment did the group interrupt exactly? *Cue the Careless Whisper*
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Marlox: trick of perspective, John is standing to one side and some distance from Robert, standing in a "shocked and scared" pose due to the presence of a gun.
Magravan edit delete reply
@aok666 - RZ was a kid who had a pretty jerky dad, and a terminally ill mother... I guess this sort of serves as my explanation about Chad too ;)

@asheswillfall - Haha, I was thinking that she probably should have had small ones, but that works as an explanation too ;) Given that she was 'well versed in stuffing her bra' or something like that ;)

@Snoogl - You have no idea how much I want to spoil it right now :)

@PhilC - That is certainly a possibility :D

@Marlox - That's Robert's hand behind his back... Not saying what happened before that :)

@aok666 - Presumably, yes :)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
So if Alexander was on Death Row and is now the head PSO (or was until recently)... does that mean that he became a PSO, and is now fighting for justice (and freedom, reasonably-priced love and a hard-boiled egg) to atone for whatever landed him in Death Row?
Magravan edit delete reply
I think that for Alexander it's probably something to do with atonement, for Robert it was probably something to do with the skillset :)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
I was talking about Alexander's motives anyway. Do zombies get to choose their own jobs, or is it dictated by Robert according to skillset?
Magravan edit delete reply
Higher levels are specially selected. In this case, Robert approached him, Alexander accepted for his own reasons.

This is the first time I've ever commented on here, but that doesn't mean I haven't been around! I found out about this webcomic from a friend about a year ago, and loved it so much I read the lot in one go and have been with you ever since. I just wanted to say thankyou for creating The Other Grey Meat, for thinking up such a unique idea and melding it into this incredible world that I've gotten so absorbed into. However things end on the next update, I will be more than satisfied. You guys are amazing!

I will make sure to actually get up early (there are two seven o'clocks in a day?!) to read the final installment before my first lecture of the year. It'll probably forever symbolise the end of summer to me. Or something (it's felt like the end of summer for a week anyway, rain and falling leaves tend to do that).
Looking forward to the awesome finale, and sorry for not saying please last night - not sure why I forgot, there's really no excuse.
jme (Guest) edit delete reply
I keep thinking at the last moment, it won't happen :( I completely understand the reasoning but still bummed that there'll be no more TOGM *very sadface*
The artwork is brilliant & the story has been extraordinary (see I didn't forget you Mag!) <3

@Boggieboy - Thanks for taking the time to let us know! We really appreciate the support that these comments represent.

@aok666 - I'd have to say that the timing works out rather well if you happen to start classes on Monday :D

@jme - Thanks :) It's nice to be appreciate :D
asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
@aok666 lucky you! I've been in classes for over a month and have had 2 exams already! :P

@Mag and Skrael I don't think we can tell you enough how much we've loved this. Thank you and we love yas.

Ooh, is that a hint? Is the final comic related to lessons/lectures? Please don't let it all have been RZ's (living) daydream or something, that would be weird and wrong because RZ is too innocent to know about half the stuff which the adults have been getting up to. Robert's daydream before going off to lecture some sickeningly smart students, however... *that* might be cool.
"I'm teaching now. Bright young things like we used to be. God, I hate them."
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@asheswillfall: what year and country are you in? I'm starting my final year at university (three-year course), and won't have exams until January (and then some more in June) - but I do have to do essays and lab reports, and a dissertation by the end of the year (I have to summarise it in a presentation to the lecturers too).
asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
@aok666 This is technically my 3rd year of college, I took 2 years at a community college about 10 years ago, now I've transferred to U of Iowa and in my second semester. I'm a science major so I have lots of labs :P
Magravan edit delete reply
@asheswillfall - We appreciate it, thank you :)

@aok666 - There's a lesson, alright :I I promise it's not day dreams of any sort... As I said, it's AN ending, not THE ending. Which means that while there will be closure on some issues, and something that serves as an explanation, and a sort of end to the particular journey that this portion of the story has been about, it's not going to wrap everything up in a nice little package.

You're not the first one to suggest that this is all a figment of someone's imagination, mind you.

@asheswillfall - Oooh, very cool :)
Onasaki edit delete reply
So, will we learn what R.Z. stands for too? XD
Magravan edit delete reply
Rudolphus Zachariah :) I mentioned it at the bottom of the author's notes a few strips back :)

greymeat.com/comics/354/ is the strip that has the more detailed answer in the notes :)
Onasaki edit delete reply
Ahh! Must've missed that! Awesome.
Magravan edit delete reply
I guess it's a sort of easter egg for people who read comments :)

This is amazing! I can't believe you guys are ending, though. I do understand, but I <3 this comic. I've been reading it for about a year now.
Magravan edit delete reply
@Centcomm - Well thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I agree with you about Beth. She has always been a pleasure to write for :)

@Meganna - Thanks for taking the journey with us, and I hope that you enjoy Monday's update.

I would do a countdown to the end, but you're about six hours behind me timezone-wise and I need my sleep for tomorrow (what idiot made Immunology the first lecture of the year? With a control-freak lecturer who hates me, and my best university friend off doing an entrance exam?)
