Hey guys, hope you're having a great week!

I wasn't sure if I should put any words in the last scene, or just let the atmosphere of the scene speak for itself. Either way, I think June accomplished what I wanted out of this one.

Sorry about being late on putting up the vote preview image for this strip, but the proper one is up now.

Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!

Yipe, I felt a tug on my neck on the last panel.

Once again jumped from humor to a new genre, what is this a horror comic? With zombies?!?

whats that sign say in the last panal

It's for the "emergency rope," used to corral wayward ones! Not sure where the rope is, though. Things sure look grim for the rebellion!
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
The rope was used to tie up Thomas, what happened after that, I don't know
Skrael (I'm the artist)
AHAHA I *love* you guys! You remembered the "Emergency rope"! :D:D:D:D:D
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Who could forget the Emergency Rope? Along with the One-Crusher (generator)...

@T.Gatto - We play in whatever genre sounds cool at the time. We just waltz in and set up shop. Maybe kick some stuff, and write TOGM IS HERE! on everything.

@neon5162 - Emergency Rope :D

@PhilC - Apparently no one thought to replace it. There goes the rebellion right there. Once you start missing the little things, it's all downhill..

@Muchacho NL - Someone didn't put it back where they were supposed to, apparently.

@Skrael - They remember all kinds of stuff ;) It's hard to slip one by!

@aok666 - The Wheel of Pain! I think Chekhov should be running it on his own ;D
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Speaking of the Wheel Of Pain: it would work if the One stood on top of it (like a horizontal treadmill). Also, working animals which have to circle all day (such as mill donkeys) wear blindfolds, or they get dizzy.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Good thing that Ones are more useful than mill donkeys :D
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Just wondering why that One didn't have a blindfold (there must be eyeless Ones, surely they can smell brains/TOGM?)?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
That would just be mean... Bad enough to stick the guy to a machine like that, but depriving him of sight? That's just mean.
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
But he'd be too distracted by the TOGM to even register the blindfold, and without it he'd get dizzy and fall into the cogs.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Can zombies get dizzy? ... That's okay, I'll wait while you achieve a zen-like focus ;)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Since they can balance, they can probably lose that balance if they get hungry/walk in circles for too long. So they probably can get dizzy, though not sure if it's the same as human dizzyness... we'd have to ask a zombie...
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Looks like I've accidentally come up with a question for the next Ask R.Z. then: "Can zombies get dizzy, and if so is it the same as human dizzy?"
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Becoming dizzy is primarily a function of the contents of fluid in the inner ear vs the sensory given to the brain...

That could present some problems ;)

EMERGENCY ROPE!! sorry i had to borrow it to deal with some demons.... ((shameless plug!)) but i'll get it back as soon as possible.
datacut (Guest) edit delete reply
Hey, is it just me or does the website take an age to load, which is annoying when you want to flick through the archive..
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Magravan: but they still get sensory information into whatever substitute for a brain they have, so maybe that can still disagree with their inner ears -> dizzy zombies?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@model S - Shameless would have included a link :P

@datacut - What kind of connection are you on? I don't notice a problem, but I've got like ... Super Express Plus internet or something silly like that.

I'll ask the host if he's been having any lag issues lately.

@aok666 - True enough, but it's a processing issue. They don't retain the ear fluid, so presumably the zombie brain achieves it via other things. Examples of a different method of processing stimuli is their difference in the perception of pain.

While it miiiiight be possible for Twos or higher to get dizzy, Ones are built more for the hunt on a most basic level.

I don't think that dizziness is something that they cope with, but I also don't want to shut the door on a good joke if it requires them to be dizzy... So for now the Answer is that Ones don't get dizzy, Two+ might. :)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
How was I to know that they don't retain inner ears? I was thinking that they'd at least have replacements (Twos and up, anyway)...
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
It's just something that I imagine would be easily at risk of damage on a One... The idea of a permanently dizzy One is entertaining, but not to the extent that it would probably come up.
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
What makes you say that they lose the inner fluids in the ears?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
I would just think that it would dry up if they've lost their ear... I don't know, it seems like an unnecessarily human thing that would affect a One's ability to survive.
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
It might help to explain the lurching though... and a soggy body part would rot faster.
bbedlam edit delete reply
bbedlam
Ha... I'm always disappointed when I find a room full of decapitated zombies too.
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
Losing the ear itself will not mean the inner ears are gone too.
There's still an eardrum that keeps it from spilling, or drying up.
If that were to rupture and make it spill the fluid or dry up: they would go deaf.
I can think about it thickening, like the blood, but drying up completely?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
If it comes to that, the inner ear fluid is held inside the cochlea. But the inner ear would still rot after zombification.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@aok666 - It might, but it doesn't. :D The idea of them spending their entire lives in vertigo just seems unnecessarily complicated.

@bbedlam - Saves the trouble though...

@Muchacho NL - It would create more exposure to the elements... That would be my assumption without knowing specifically...

@aok666 - Perhaps, but ultimately irrelevant in this particular case.

Maybe it's just me, but I've forgotten what he's doing. Could someone give me a refresher?

@Soleana
I believe he was trying to have Mr. Guns take him to the hideout so he could help them overthrow Robert.

I simply *LOVE* discussions about what would rot and what wouldn't rot with a zombie :)
Don't think I do this to wipe out your theory, Mag... I just simply can't resist the discussion itself :)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
...everything except bone rots eventually. Even bone will rot in the right conditions.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Soleana - I've always maintained that the story is designed to be read as an overall thing, as opposed to a strip to strip thing.. So occasionally there will be references to things in the past that might not have been referenced recently...

In this particular case, Alexander had avoided Chad's attempt to drag him back, become immune to Robert's control, and now he's attempting to link up with the Phantom to stand against Robert.

@Asheswillfall - Chekhov :)

@model S - Getting a little better ;)

@Muchacho NL - Haha, that's okay. I'm coming at it from the angle of TOGM zombies ;)

I don't know enough to be able to make the call in regular zombies.

@aok666 - That's true... If not, we'd have a lot of corpses laying around ;)
