Hey everyone, hope you're having a good week!

I think the last panel is going to be switched or ... dialogue changed or something. If you're seeing it before a change, what does it look like to you? Does it make sense?

I think we had a bit of a miscommunication on it, and the way that it appears to me and the way it's currently written, it doesn't convey what I was hoping to convey.

Unfortunately, it's going to have to stay like it is for a bit, or June's going to have to letter it temporarily if the art is changing, because I have to get some sleep.. Early start tomorrow.

Have a great weekend, take care!

Here's the real panel 4:

image

I had to run out quickly (thus the piss-poor backgrounds in this) to attend my 14 year old's band concert! I hope you can forgive me, but I really didn't want to miss it. He makes me so proud. The band was great too! (He plays trombone - sometimes posts here as Awsmo)

Any way, when I got home (at 11:00) James told me that I didn't get the joke... but I did, they were behind a wall! It just didn't appear like they were because I drew it stupidly in my rush.

So I added some stuff to make it look more like a wall, but it was too late, James was off to bed! So I will have to have him change it out tomorrow.

Sorry guys, I've failed you.

Also, another failure... I don't have the first panel of the next comic done! So if you vote this time, you're going to have to deal with a surprise image. Sorry sorry! (The surprise is fun though - ask T.Gatto who it is!)

I thought the original was fine, and liked the "Where's everyone else?" line... I thought that it was kind of obvious that they were in another room with a wall blocking the way. The sign in the new version is kind of funny, too, though I don't think it's as good of a punchline as the original.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
oh sorry, the final speech bubble will be added as well, so the punchline will still be the same. :D I just added the sign for fun. I was going to make it say:

This is a sign!
It is on a wall!

But I changed my mind. ;)

I didn't think Robert would make boobs that big, or even why when intimacy isn't important to a zombie anymore...?

Hahahaha, I laughed my ass off, and only noticed the "flaw" in your drawing when I read the artist notes.
I figured they were behind a wall already, so no harm done.
For me the new panel is just pure aesthetics.
Beadle (Guest) edit delete reply
Love it! Really hope they stay that way, and it's not just a quick joke scene.

BTW - are you planning on adding some of the newer characters to the Cast page? We're missing a few people on that page.
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
How have they fitted their new body parts? They need Beth for that.
And what is Sylene holding?
Beadle (Guest) edit delete reply
aok666 - I'm assuming it's the Phantom's old arm.

It looks arm-shaped, and it's grey.
Keith (Guest) edit delete reply
LOL...sometimes friends/allies are as bad as having children. le sigh

I thought RZ looked like that to indicate movement, like he was waving his arms up and down, then realized the little guy had actually attached six extra arms! He's a weird kid...
Excellent choice, Katie! Phantom's got the guns now, and I think Sylene might be holding a leg.
Excellent insight into the characters!
the_brigand (Guest) edit delete reply
looks like the Phantom got an upgrade :)
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Anyone notice Phantom is squishing an eyeball with his hugely muscled arms?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
I did. And wondered how he had control over the arms already when it took Beth so long to control her perfectly-fitted new superarms...
As I said, shouldn't they need Beth to fit the parts for them?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Also, where did RZ get those fangs from? Why the hell is Robert making fangs?
Lunaroki edit delete reply
Lunaroki
Oh! That's an eyeball! I noticed him squishing something but as it was all squishified I couldn't tell what it used to be.
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Lunaroki: it has an iris and pupil at the top. Look closely :-)
PhilC edit delete reply
PhilC
Is Phantom squishing the eye because it won't work in his head? Cause he's in need of one, ya know. Or he's trying to put it in his head but his arm is so strong that he can't help squishing it?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@PhilC: he's looking surprised, so I think it's a case of him trying to put it in and not being able to control the arms properly yet.
Anon (Guest) edit delete reply
Really? I thought the zombies couldn't have sex (given the initial part of this comic as it was) Why bother with the extra sexual addons huh?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Anon: they're still obsessed with their looks. It's all part of looking better, not so much a sexy thing.
Meed edit delete reply
Meed
Straight for the big detachable boobs, she goes.
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
@Anon, since when have boobs been part of the genitalia required for sex?
Bigger boobs doesn't mean anything sexual.
For women it's about womanhood, like big penii define our manhood.
Asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
Katie could have boobs big enough to suffocate herself but I still say she's nowhere near a woman as Beth

I regret that I could only rate this one as a 5 out of 5! It deserves about a 7 out of 5. :)
the_brigand (Guest) edit delete reply
aok666, the look on the Phantom's face suggest that he may in fact have been trying to put it in but failed to control his arms properly.

June, i did notice he eyeball. i also noticed your new avatar is very lifelike, truly your art skillz are improving :)

the_brigand: Thank you! Here's my best piece, IMO,if I do say so myself. (And I painted myfavourite subject too!) :D :D

@Croaxleigh - When I looked at it, it seemed like Beth should be able to see them... I don't know, it was probably the exhaustion talking ;)

@Skrael - That would have been an awesome sign ;D

@Asheswillfall - Breasts are not exclusively sexual... Obviously, based on Beth, they are done for visual appeal.

@Muchacho NL - Well I'm glad that everyone else seemed to get the intent... I was afraid that it looked like Beth could see them, and she was commenting on where security or whatever is.

@Beadle - You may be disappointed >_> Adding that much complexity to RZ's character design on an ongoing basis would probably get me hung ;)

The cast page should be updated, but I'm not sure when it will be. Sorry! That's the honest answer though.

@aok666 - That's certainly a subject for the next strip to go over, isn't it? :P

@Beadle - I ... don't know what it is. June'll have to answer.

@Keith - Sometimes they're worse >.>

@PhilC - He is definitely a weird kid :D That's one of the reasons that he's probably my favourite character in the story :)

@the_brigand - So it would appear :)

@Skrael - I did! Thankfully I wasn't completely oblivious on this one :)

@aok666 - Does squishing his new eye sound like control to you? :)

Fangs for RZ? Two words. A File :P That might actually be something that sticks around for character design for a while :)

@Lunaroki - That's okay, I think very few people would be able to tell what it started out as in a second or two ;)

@aok666 - Not for long!

@PhilC - That's a good question :)

@aok666 - See, you answer your own questions ;)

@Anon - It's not exclusively sexual, and .. look at Beth, clearly they exist ;)

@aok666 - Pure vanity ;)

@Meed - The funny part about Katie is that she could have gone for anything, really. The fact that she chose boobs probably says more about June as an artist than Katie as a character :)

@Muchacho NL - If they would just lower the worldwide average to 1.5", we could stop so much conflict :D (Points to anyone who gets the reference!)

I have to disagree with you about Boobs being about womanhood. There are women who end up having their breasts removed to avoid cancer problems. I don't think that they become less womanly because of it.

In the case of our comic, it's pure vanity, and having something that has no practical use is a sign of prestige. If you can afford something like that, it means that you're doing something that pays more credits.

@Asheswillfall - Katie is a complex character with a shallow facade... There's a lot more to her character than the readers have been allowed to see :)

@T.Gatto - Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it ;D

@the_brigand - Haha, she takes nice pictures too :)

@Skrael - Back when I had haaaair! ... Speaking of which, my hair's getting too long and needs to be shaved down again...
Asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
@mag I got the reference!!! that was such a funny episode!
and Nooo!!! Long hair is sexy!
Asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
I was thinking along the lines of Katie was making up for her lack of brains :P
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
She's not unintelligent, she just has a particular perspective on things ;)

Also, I no longer have long hair, and haven't since the day I joined the military (over 5 years ago now)... I cut it the night before I flew out to Basic ;)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Magravan: but as a zombie, Katie does literally lack brains.
Poor you re: hair, I wouldn't give up my 3-foot-long chestnut locks for anything

"If they would just lower the worldwide average to 1.5", we could stop so much conflict :D (Points to anyone who gets the reference!) "
Nice Southpark reference :)

"I have to disagree with you about Boobs being about womanhood. There are women who end up having their breasts removed to avoid cancer problems. I don't think that they become less womanly because of it." - It's not about what you and I think, it's what matters inside the heads of the woman involved.
Studies have shown that women feel less woman when one of the breasts are removed for said reason, or when women with bigger boobs walk around. (If you know Menage a 3: The Kiley reaction).
That doesn't mean she IS less of a woman, she just feels like that.
Same reason why smaller penii don't make us a lesser man, but we think we are.

It's rare that R.Z. does the most logical thing.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
I had 3 foot long hair too, I recently cut half of it off! I'm mostly okay with it now, 6 months later.. ;)
Asheswillfall (Guest) edit delete reply
my chestnut locks go down to my butt and there's no way i'm getting it chopped off, no matter how much i complain it's hot during the summer :D
Skrael (I'm the artist)
If you are so inclined to look at my before and after shots :D

Before

After 1
After 2
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Asheswillfall: same here - even the chestnut locks. Except that mine isn't hot in summer, probably due to British summer
@Skrael: Why did you cut half the length off if it took you six months to get used to it? With your loose hair it looks fine before AND after; with ponytail/plait it looks somehow attenuated when shorter than waistlength - almost like losing a limb (I am weird about my hair, I admit - to the point of actually having a slight phobia of haircuts and hairdressers' shops).
Skrael (I'm the artist)
I had that hair for ten years .. and well, I started to go grey.. and it was too much money to die it all the time, so I decided it was time to let it go. It was a huge decision for me, one that took over a year to make. I was heartbroken at first, but everyone said it looked a lot better. I haven't cut it since that day .. D:
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
I couldn't see any grey on your previous photos you've posted on here, and grey looks totally fine on most people anyway. I haven't had my hair cut since I was 15 (mother forced me to, and somehow managed to get 3" trimmed off instead of 1" like she promised - insignificant, but a small victory for her). The time before that I won't go into, because when I tried to describe it on here just now I went over the character limit!
Ironically, my sister isn't allowed to grow her hair to shoulder-length (her preferred choice) until she learns to wash it properly by herself (which could take a *very* long time - she hasn't learnt in nearly 15 years of living) so she asked if she could instead have a "proper women's short haircut" (i.e. not a men's Number Four like my mum - who needs it that short or it goes frizzy), to which my parents (who once agreed that society could save a lot of time, money, resources and stress if everybody shaved their heads like in Ancient Egypt) replied that she is "gradually learning" (cue sardonic laughter on my part) to wash her hair by herself so there was no point... I have no idea what they're thinking there. They apparently won't even let her grow her (daft) fringe* out, so the poor girl is stuck with a five-year-old's hairstyle (mid-jaw length on average, with a fringe) on a head that looks about thirteen years old...

@aok666 - That's a valid point, but she's no more brainless than any of the rest of the zombies ;)

As for my hair, well, it was a good career that I would have been going in to, and well worth the sacrifice. Having cut it, I kind of enjoy it short anyway.

@Muchacho NL - That's a valid point, I can't speak to the mindset of the women who have gone through it. Only my own with regards to them :)

@Cyrian - RZ ALWAYS does the most logical thing... It's just not any logic we would recognize :)

@Skrael - I think it looks good on you <3

@Asheswillfall - I had no choice :) The military only lets you keep long hair if you're a woman or part of cultures where their hair has specific significance such as the Sihk or (certain tribes? of) Native.

@Skrael - I think it looks nicer now :)

@aok666 - I'm not keen on haircuts either... I occasionally just bite the bullet and ask June to use the 3mm shaver all over my head :D

@Skrael - That's true, you haven't :) I think it still looks nice though.

@aok666 - Wow, I didn't even know there was a character limit... Considering some of the posts I made, it must have been a novel!

@Dodom - Yes, yes he did. Why did he? I have no idea.
