What can I say, Katie makes me smile... I think that her and Sylene would get along well, somehow... Katie's primary reason for coming to the Factory, from the writer's perspective, was to give a reason why this typically well-secured Factory was decidedly less secure when our various people wandered through... But now that she's there, I thought I could have a little fun with her, at Beth's expense, apparently ;)

Two major things I wanted to say... First is This Apt 28 Strip which made me Awww inside as a parent / grown up... It's short, it's awesome, and I highly encourage you to check it out even if you're not a parent. Even if you don't binge her archive (which is only 50 or so strips anyway!) you should definitely check that one strip out. It's maybe 30 seconds out of your day. (And easily available in one single cliiiick!)

Second is that I wanted to say that I'm really pleased with what June did with the art work. More so than usual, even. So this is my kudos to her for that. (I told her in real life too, but I thought I would share it with you guys as well)

Other than that, have a great weekend, and we'll see you on Monday :) I'm fresh out of fan art to post, so nothing really to post on Saturdays right now.

I think it would be hard for Beth to appreciate anything right atm...

Is that twitch the activation of "Kill mode"? :p
model S edit delete reply
model S
i think that twitch is more of "WHY DID I KEEP THAT STUPID HUMAN INSTEAD OF TURNING HIM INTO ROBERT?!"

@mag: in response to your comment yesterday: the plan is we HOPEFULLY get some money in so he can go the symester after next, and by then the comic should be in full swing so everything will work out so he has time for homework and comic, atleast that's the PLAN... as you well know, plans seem to fall apart rather quickly.
((also i'm happy you found my totally random backstory only thrown together to prove a point funny))

I have to agree, some of her best work yet. I like the story as much as I do watching her grow in her art.

Beth, pick a side, and lighten up!

Either;
A- you are one of Robert's cronies and should be penitent, and turn Katie in (which also means eventually selling out John and RZ).
B- Get with the program, see if she can get you out of the factory, and see if you can use what is in the box.

Don't play both sides or you will end up in deeper $hit.

Oh and option B seems more fun than working with Chad. ;)

Er... why is Beth having a fit?

it's a coniption, her mind is boggled by the sheer audacity of katie, which causes her to develop a tumor which causes her to have a seizure! ... or y'know it's just a rage twitch.
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Zombies can't get brain tumours though.
I'm thinking maybe it's for playing silly b*ggers with Robert's remote-control thingamajigs, but either Katie is Phantomised or it only works on Fours.

By "it" I meant whatever's in the packet.

@MatthewJA - If you weren't doing that all the time, it might make more of an impact :P

@FenBisher - That is certainly a fair assessment of the situation ;)

@Muchacho NL - In a sense... Sort of :)

@model S - Yeah, what's the backup plan for when that one breaks down? :)

@dennisroper - I think that she's still frustrated that the comic takes her a while, but I don't think that she realizes that several hours of work now produces are considerably better than several hours of work 2 years ago.

@T.Gatto - It seems everyone wants to kidnap her and make her do work... That doesn't seem like a great idea for either side ;)

@aok666 - I don't think she appreciates Katie's timing.

@model S - I guess that's probably as good a reason as any.

@aok666 - Zombies with brain tumours :D Oh man, that package is really going to become a source of interest when I NEVER explain what was in it, isn't it?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Oh no, you don't get to do that. That's ripping off Pulp Fiction and the lightbulb briefcase. The way her limbs are all awkward and stiff and her face is all twisted (perfectly drawn twisty face!), something's up with whatever serves her as a nervous system. She'll be arching tetanus-style soon.

PS Or rictus sardonicus (strychnine grin).

the leas you could do is TELL us what's in it. even if it's something mundane, as for back up plans.... well... we're fresh out of back up plans, the hard drive with it crashed. all those plans to take over the world gone... i mean.... umh... HEY LOOK A DISTRACTION!
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Backup plans... it contains my notes :-D
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Also, the title: I interpret as "She's out of ROBERT'S control", i.e. whatever lets him remotely control her has been frazzalated.

@aok666 - I was thinking more along the lines of ripping of Cast Away, where there's a package, but you never find out what is in it.

@model S - Well no, the least I could do is not say what is in it. :D

@aok666 - Are you sure it didn't have to do with Katie? :P

I thought maybe she was cringing at Katie's timing, and at the fact that her Doilies maker just got his head ripped off, but I guess I could be wrong all the way around.

@drivinallnight - I think that there are a lot of ideas as to why she's herky-jerky ;)

@model S - But saying what it is defeats the purpose!

@Nekoha - I thought it was an adorable strip :) It reminded me of my son sometimes, just mimicing for the sake of mimicing.. ;)

but mag, don't you think some of us have earned the right to know!?
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
I think the twitching is because:
A. Katie seems to think Beth is on good footing with security.
B. While Beth is desperately trying to escape, the Vapid Vally, Katie is breaking and entering without security noticing... on top of that, Katie is acting like it's no big deal.
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Katie only got through because she's still in the staff database! And I still reckon the packet contains an anti-Four device.
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
nvm
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@model S - More accurately, I believe you all have earned the right not to know :)

@Muchacho NL - Vapid Vally?

@aok666 - It would be kind of awkward for it to be an anti-Four device that is never shown or explained, don't you think?

@Muchacho NL - Okay! Neverminding :)

OK., my thoughts on the BOX!
It possibly contains;

1- Naked pictures of Bea Arthur, which should never be seen by anyone for any reason, ever.
2- The recipe for TOGM, returned to the plant, from a secret vault at the Krusty Krab, in times of trouble.
3- The recipe for a Krabby Patty (Robert, an old friend of Mr. Krabs, is keeping it safe from Plankton)
4- The thing from the Box in the Movie "Creep Show".
5- A TARDIS, just a really little one.
6- The footage of Beth from the Bomb Shelter, he's a pervert too.
7- The TOGM Dust Bunnies T shirt Robert bought online which he doesn't want to share with anyone.
8- An endless supply if smaller boxes.
9- The vaccine for the Zombie plague, which Robert just re-discovered a little late.
10- Whatever is needed to get TOGM out of a future plot jam.

I'm voting for #6, just because I'd like to see more footage of the incident in the future.
If it is #1 PLEASE LEAVE IT IN THE BOX. ;)

11- A deflated, blood encrusted volleyball, formerly known as Wilson.

i vote for #6 too! that needs to be shown again. maybe the guys exploring found it and shipped it to robert, so they can get on his good side for some reason....
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
See? The box is infinitely more interesting with what your imagination puts into it :)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
I'm voting for either 10 (deus ex box), 12 (lightbulb) or 13 (anti-Four+ device intended to frazzle Robert - the people who brought it to him by the normal route would have been Threes).
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
14- Mimic from DnD just waiting to take out some zombies and steal the treasures.

15- Transformer trying to find more Energon in the TOGM factory.

17: A knitted pink sweater with the text: I 'heart' Mommy. for Robert.

Or: 18: A knitted green sweater with Rudolph on it... it's almost Christmas after all.

19: ingredients for TOGM
20: paint-stripper (will remove all facial prosthetics)

21: Scarecrow's Brain
22: Tin Man's Heart
23: Lion's Courage
24: Dorothy's Air Balloon, no wait, Ruby Slippers and the desire to go home (Thanks for the information AFTER the fact, Glinda)

The Wizard of Oz may or may not have been on TV last night >_>
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Lion's Courage, which just happens to come in a bottle... I wonder if it's Dutch courage... I never liked Wizard of Oz much. Give me Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett any day: Nanny Ogg's reinforced hat saves her life when a house lands on her head, and the dwarves trying to get her shoes without being sure why are given dwarf bread instead - this is shortly followed by another Wizard of Oz reference:
Magrat (slightly soppy witch): "What SOME people need is a bit more heart!"
Granny Weatherwax (tough no-nonsense witch): "What SOME people need is a lot more brain."
Nanny Ogg (cheerful, friendly, jolly witch): *thinks* What I need is a good stiff drink.
25: copy of Wicked (the true story of Oz)
26: copy of Witches Abroad
27: newly formulated TOGM alcohol
28: attempts at zombie Viagra for Robert to test (hence Beth's reaction, considering what's been on her mind for most of the past 48-ish hours... I'm pretty sure that's how long the events of this comic have covered. John hit the dumpster late in the day and there have been two nights since...)
29: Christmas decorations
30: Open University course materials/students' essays to mark (Robert could be taking or teaching a course)
