Sorry this is a few minutes late! I thought James was goign to upload it, but I guess I was mistaken :D

I got side tracked! I was reading articles on www.videogamewriters.com and completely missed the fact that midnight was approaching... Sorry for anyone who tried reading in the first 15 minutes or so, and thanks to June for backing me up on this one :D

Annnd onto the comic:

Ouch. R.Z. is not being very considerate here... Might as well tell John that his nose enhancement is too big or his hair is of poor quality. The man is exhausted after saving your butt and searching a building... Give him a break!

The two important things in this comic were to continue to show that R.Z. believes that John is one of them, and John's awkwardly keeping up the illusion, AND showing that R.Z.'s limbs are specially designed to look the way that they do...

He sure looks weird with all 5 fingers, doesn't he?

And on that happy note, I hope you guys have a great weekend, and we'll see you on Monday (ideally I will upload it on time!) Take care everyone!

Man, I hate it when I have to buy my limbs off the rack. You'd think there's an Armani zombie out there, making designer limbs for people. Or maybe there is, but Beth and RZ can't afford it?

It's a shame his face can't actually melt off, because that'd be pretty epic.

Or can it?...o.0

Hahaha. Aww. That must have been scary for him :)

Reference the title of today's strip
"OH! The Horror!".
You mean to incorporate Horror into a Zombie Comic?
Unthinkable, it will never make it!
Stick to status quo formula story lines like; Talking Cars; Little Blue Gnome wannabees; or Platypus Secret agents, if you want to get notice in the comic business! ;)
Once again Keep up the Good Work!
Emily (Guest) edit delete reply
Where do arms and such actually come from in this world? o_O
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@bbedlam - If anyone can afford it, it'd be Beth :)

@twalker500 - Well, if you get some acid or fire...

@Frosty - Definitely. Scarred for life!

@T.Gatto - It's a reference to a card in Last Night on Earth.. It's a zombie card that allows you to grab 3 more zombie cards :O And I think that the horror of the scene was not .. typical horror :)

@Emily - The TOGM factory, which Beth is currently working in ;)

so wait... the horror was that he got a lower quality arm than he was used to? that... that's just awful! that's like opening a PS2 box to find a PS2 slim! or worse....
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
As one of the creators said before, Beth is sentimental - hence RZ's missing front teeth as well as his bespoke arms. It took me ages to work out what was odd about the emergency off-the-shelf arm... unobservant fool that I am. Actually, I didn't get it until I read the author note. *facepalm*
RZ does look very well-maintained for a Two - compare to official Two description in "So, You're A Zombie Now". His clothes and skin especially are very good. Presumably Beth can't get away with replacing the voice though... or maybe he's just "cuter" to her that way? Plus he IS the only Two among the regular characters, so he has to maintain his rank's reputation... or something.

i got that he had 5 fingers, i just wanted to make the ps2 slim joke. i gotta say though he really does look better the way he is instead of with 5 fingers. i don't know why, maybe cause we're used to it now.

Kinda makes you wonder why he has 4 on each hand in the first place :P

hmm note to self experiment with repelling zombies by melting thier faces with metal or maybe some heavy rock for a light test

@model S - The horror was that he got a freakishly un-R.Z. arm :)

@aok666 - His voice is not a cosmetic thing... It's a brain power thing :)

@model S - I prefer his current look to a more realistic one as well :)

@Muchacho NL - It certainly does ;)

@neon5162 - If you remember said notes in the midst of a zombie invasion, I will be impressed :)

note to self, remember notes to self during zombie invasion. also note to self, sulfuric acid, glass container, supersoaker. also chaingun. but seriously, this comic keeps getting better.

@model S: Ok you just changed the goal, here is the radioactive potato.
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
How is the voice a brainpower thing?
I guess he demanded hands like his favourite cartoon heroes, once he found out that Beth could get him tailor-made arms...
model S edit delete reply
model S
looks at potato- is.... is it supposed to be glowing green like that? and what and i suppose to do with this anyways?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@ model S: you stick the radioactive potato into a car's exhaust pipe and rev the car (with handbrake on) while aiming exhaust at a zombie. If it's a decent car, the potato will fly out and hit the zombie. (If it is a rubbish car, the engine will stall because the exhaust can't escape.)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Magravan: while archive-trawling (to refresh knowledge), noticed that John keeps his contacts in when he's in bed... that's not safe surely?
Which reminds me: Does R.Z. have contacts behind the glasses? For that matter, why does he have glasses when Beth could give him perfect replacement eyes? (Is it like the teeth thing - she finds it cute/reminiscent?)
model S edit delete reply
model S
i see. wouldn't that give said zombie potato powers!?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@ Model S: no. Would cause (if aimed correctly) cranial destruction. Have you ever seen a potato shot from an exhaust pipe? It flies out very fast indeed.
To people who don't speak British English: exhaust pipe = tailpipe. Just doing my bit for international relations here. Literally, my German aunty learned American English not British English. I don't think she reads this but... nevermind, I'm babbling because I'm tired, it's bedtime over here.

@model S - I'm glad you're still enjoying it :)

@idd - Okay...

@aok666 - It's a way of talking. Much like certain languages require you to roll your tongue a certain way.. Obviously if I were raised in Scotland, I'd have a Scottish accent, and their manner of speech. Simply put, their accent is a mental thing, not a physical thing.

The way that the 1s and 2s speak is the same. Except obviously the Scottish speak that way because they choose to, rather than limited by intellect :)

@model S - Yes, yes it is.

@aok666 - That could win the 'Most Convoluted Means to Kill a Zombie' award. Maybe not first prize, but definitely a contender.

To answer your questions, R.Z. has purely cosmetic glasses. Beth wanted him that way, and had the power and authority to make it happen ;) As for contacts, I don't believe he does, but I wouldn't be surprised to have a situation where June has drawn him having some :)

@model S - Zombies vs Plants would indicate that zombies and plants don't mix :)

@aok666 - Maybe you could hit a crawler...

@model S - I'm sure you could rig something up!

Sorry, I was kind of late on this comment. Those kind of "cheap parts" RZ is what you get when you do it yourself. However it appears to be 100% Natural.

the sad part, i probably could rig something up. and yes you're right. -pulls out a flower- I AM PROTECTED FROM ZOMBIES HAHAHAHA!!
Magravan edit delete reply

@Jamming - If R.Z. did it himself... Wow. I just got the mental image of the entire place imploding ;)

@model S - And this brings to mind the guy from Goldeneye saying "I am invincible!" just as he gets dead.

To enable headshot with potato: get an accomplice car to drive into the One, knocking it flat, then fire at the One's head with the potato-car.

If Robert was the first zombie, where did his brain go?
Also, he mentioned once about his thoughts about a utopia (no powercuts - see "Damn Utopian Utilities Company")... as he is later mentioned as doing some dodgy research, which Tom and Ol' Corpsey were laughing at, do I detect that zombies were the basis of his Plan to rule the world?
TheHistoryBuff (Guest) edit delete reply
All this automobile driving has brought up an interesting thought to me. Where are the zombies getting their petroleum from? From the shot of the wastes, I would say that (assuming that this is in north america) it would be south-western United States, but even that is uncertain. If that is the case, then the nearest sorce of petroleum depostis, assuming that it hasn't been depeated in the near future, is in the texas region. Then again, the shots of the waste are more reminicent of the Sahara, and such places as Libya have alot of oil left. perhaps I am overthing this too much. By the way, great comic. I look forward to reading it further in the future.

Spinnerlink
you should have made the new hand have long painted fingernails.
Muchacho NL edit delete reply
Muchacho NL
Or made it a body builder's arm :D

@magravan: so why DOES R.Z. only have four fingers?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@TheHistoryBuff: TOGM is set in Canada, I think - the locally-produced TOGM packets are labelled Produce of Canada. The Wastes are a by-product of the zombie apocalypse.

Apparently ackee has the texture of brains - could it maybe be an ingredient in TOGM?
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Spinnerlink and Muchacho NL: the box says "emergency limb - size: child". Not likely, therefore, to be a bodybuilders' arm/have long painted nails. *tsk*
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
@TheHistoryBuff (again): also, I think only Threes and Fours (and Robert) have cars. Lower categories aren't capable of learning to drive, and don't have enough money anyway.

*Another* question: I notice that Sylene seems to put on a little weight (especially in her face and arms) over the course of the comic - is it something to do with all the TOGM fastfood she takes from poor Karl, since the change seems to occur mainly over and after her interview... or is it just dodgy enhancements soaking up atmospheric moisture or something?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@aok666 - That is an option, yes :)

Robert's brain? I'm pretty sure it ... Oh, I see what you're doing... Nice try! I'm on to you!

@TheHistoryBuff - Or ... you know... the guy who has practically unlimited resources at hand can get it from just about anywhere...

But for the sake of argument, we'll say Alberta's Oil Sands. Go Canada! ;D

@Spinnerlink - The problem if we did that is that it gives the sense that he's horrified with it because it's a girl's hand... I wanted to convey that he was disturbed by the idea of having five fingers... I was suggesting to June that she should draw one finger drooping, and she was debating on having him trying to cut off the pinky finger.. :D

@Muchacho NL - Because he prefers it that way :D

@aok666 - The TOGM packets are labelled Produce of Canada? *boggle* Where'd you see that? If it was in the comic, I think I might have to have a chat with my artist :P

Annnd, the reason that she's put on a little weight is because I told June that she needs to stop drawing Sylene so darn skinny. She's meant to have some meat to her!
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
I henceforth label the Robert's Brain thing "the Five Paradox". And I'm looking forward to how you sort that one.
The publicity pictures (on Facebook and T-shirts) of TOGM packets all show a stamp saying something like "Produce Of Canada". I thought the Oil Sands were shale hence not great for petrol (gas to Americans)? At least, I think that's what I learnt in Geology A-level. (No idea what Americans call that. Look it up.)
aok666 (Guest) edit delete reply
Oh, and the mug too. Just checked.
So does it have ackee in it?
Skrael (I'm the artist)
That TOGM meat sticker is basically just a promo image .. the reason I put Canada on it was to refelct that James and I are Canadian, and the webcomic TOGM is a "product of Canada" :D
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@aok666 - The Five Paradox sounds like something Robert's PR people would say... So I'm slightly concerned about your objectivity at this point o.O

As for Ackee ... No idea. I've never heard of it before, so ... :D
