Wow! We actually reached 100... I hope you guys enjoyed it!

If you've read the faq, you'd know that I said that if we ever get tired, that we would give it a proper ending. I think that this is that ending. All of the loose plot threads are wrapped up nicely, and all the relevant characters that you know about are introduced and have completed important character arcs.

All in all, I think that it is a very fitting ending for TOGM... wait.. what? That's a terrible ending and doesn't explain or conclude anything?

Oh.. Well, then I guess it's just the end of part 1 of Book 2 ;)

In all seriousness, it's been about 1 year since we went 'live' with the comic, and we've had a lot of ups, and a couple downs with it. It's been a tremendous experience, and I wanted to extend a very heartfelt thank you to each and every reader who has made some part of this journey with us.

We will, likely before midnight, have hit 100,000 unique visits according to Comicfury, which doesn't mean 100,000 unique visitors (as we've had some people who have visited over 200 times on separate days!) but is still quite the milestone for us.

In appreciation for both the visits and the 1 year anniversary, June prepared a special something that she will be making available. She worked pretty hard on it, so I really hope you guys appreciate the fruits of her labour.

So yeah.. Wow... We meet Robert for real AND Alexander, the former PSO chief. You might remember him being mentioned by Chad earlier (but probably not, if the contest is any indication...) as one of the important people that Robert has 'beheaded' ever since this Thomas thing started.

Those of you who are writers may have heard the adage "In the first part, you get him stuck in a tree, the second part, you throw stones at him, and in the third part, you find a way back down..." Or something like that. I'm paraphrasing. Anyways, I felt that the first book lacked enough structure in the sense to call it a book, and it's more just the convenient division point for a book.

Well, we've got some conflicts going now! Beth and R.Z. are looking after the brains, Sylene is kidnapped, John has the journal, Chad and the PSOs are dealing with an increasingly unstable boss, and Robert's playing metaphorical chess with someone. So that's a lot of fodder for plotlines for the near future.

Some will be resolved sooner, some later. Presuming that we don't have to quit and give a quick ending, I intend to wrap up the plotlines as best I can, because I hate leaving loose ends. I'm sure I will leave some here and there, but I'm not a big fan of them. Even if we do have to quit, I will probably write out an epilogue, just for some closure ;)

Again, just thank you so much for joining us on this trip. TOGM has some awesome readers, thank you.

June's surprise!

Magravan said it all! That's awesome. Well I'm done here! Oh .. I have something to give you? Why yes ... yes I do .. in fact, I really actually have it .. but you have to check back in in about 2 hours ok? Promise me you'll come back? It's very special! I think you will be very happy with it! Two hours. See you then!

2 hours? Come on, in 2 hours I'll be so
drunk I won't be able sit up let alone scrutinize something, can't you make it 2 minutes? she said as she poured another glass of wine.

I found Chad asking about needing a body (and Robert's reaction) to be hilarious. :P
Also, I remembered Alexander from before, 'cause I had just read that comic like, a couple hours before I read the contest. I didn't actually do the contest 'cause I felt fresh fish knowledge would be kinda cheating. :P

@Linden - I agree, I think this counts as a Dun dun dunnnnn! moment :)

@Jacob Gristwood - Well, what's the point in being a saviour of society if you can't indulge in your ... room.

@ranger_brian_new - It was open to everyone, but the people who had recently read things were probably more likely to excel at it... It's one of those things that it's hard to make it fair for everyone... I'm sure that if you would have won, Hedgehogboy5 appreciates your restraint, and I guess model S will too when June finishes his picture lol :)

I don't think he's terribly pleased with his circumstances :)

For reasons beyond me, when I first saw Robert's face I thought "oh no, Twilight."
That quickly passed though :D Awesome page.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Well, whatever references I make to Twilight are inadvertant... I've said before, the only thing I heard about Twilight was that one of the central struggles was a vampire not being willing to eat a girl because of love. Which, to me, is like "I can't shoot you in the head for insurance money because I love you!" ... That should kind of go without saying...

The 'extra' situation: Basically, June made it, but it's HUGE. Like... 1 gig-ish. So we're working on trying to figure out how to shrink it into a "It wont take hours to download" state.

@Magravan - I am ready and entirely willing to spend hours downloading fresh TOGM-y surprise goodness.

I would be willing to crank it out of the dry earth using one of those old hand-pump-things, then assemble the disparate bits by hand into a working file.

I would be willing to cross a desert of...uh...

Okay, I think I just burst my hyperbole gland.

Suffice to say, I want this surprise.

Hey, hey, ahahaha!

AT 1:08 is the advertisement that first led me to this magnificent eden of a webcomic!

Well, a cropped version...

That's awesome, a tradition upheld by everything I've seen from you guys so far.

I just wanted to say, personally, thank you so much for putting yourselves out there, and for the laughs and good times you've given me over the past half year. I started a little late, but I was taken in immediately, and I just wanted to make sure that you both knew how much you're appreciated.

Not to make this sound obsessive, or fanboy-ish, or stalker-ish. If that happens again my sentence ups to five years without parole...

Overly long story short, thanks guys! I look forward to more.

I love the tears in Alexander's eyes. And the fact that Robert not only decapitated him, but put the head on a pedestal with a nameplate *shudders* Roberts creepy in a totally non-zombie way.

Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Jrade - Oh god, you mentioned hyperbole! Duck and cover!! June's been spending a lot of time reading Hyperbole and a Half lately :)

I'm glad that you seemed to have enjoyed the surprise! I was worried that it might have been too built up after having to wait 2 hours or so...

And we're very grateful for your kind words! It is always nice to hear that people appreciate one's efforts :)

Jrade
@Magravan - Consider me ducked. Quack.

As well, if words are ever the quested-for objects of your desire, might I suggest myself as an inquirable yet non-browsable repository of them?

@(void) - Because I forgot to say this earlier:

...said the spider to the fly...

@Everyone who I enraged with the code joke or pointing out obvious - I don't care.

@Everyone who doesn't know what obvious thing I pointed out - I'm dreadfully sorry, but I can't help you.

It just hit me. With the zombie pyramid scheme, the zombie gets smarter, not just from the brains he's eaten, but those eaten by those he's enlightened. Robert is the smartest zombie in existence. ROBERT WAS PATIENT ZERO! And if he had TOGM all ready an invented, he might have staged the Zombie Apocalypse just to take over the world.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Eternal_Phantom - Those aren't tears, just light / shadows :) I thought the same when I first saw it though... And he didn't have TOGM already invented :D

There was a period between the point where Humanity was essentially destroyed and when Robert finally managed to come up with TOGM...

@Jrade - Browsable is totally where it's at though! I'm hoping that you were pointing out the hover text that relates to the title? :)
Jrade edit delete reply
Jrade
@Eternal_Phantom - My gut instinct is that Robert was a convict who had some sort of drug tested on him, resulting in zombification, but I'm not sure.

I could see some mad, power-hungry bio-weapons-technician deciding to take matters into his own hands and inject himself with a zombie serum.

He was definitely first somehow, though. Or, I just thought, he could have killed the zombie(s) that came before him and were smarter.

If the former or latter turn out to be prescient, I hereby reserve the right for an "I told you so" dance.

Also, I watch your avatar about eight times every time I see it...congratulations.

@Magravan - ...definitely didn't see the mouseover text. I feel like an absolute moron now. Oops.

If you're willing to arrange transport to or from Victoria (for you or I respectively) I am willing to let you crack open my skull and browse my brain for words.

@PixieSingsBass - Thanks Pixie! Uhm... Did you not get my reply to your PM? I recall literally sending it and then logging off shortly thereafter (I had to kill my reply mid-paragraph with an "Oh, I have to go, sorry" or something like that).. So maybe it didn't finish going through before I clicked the window closed?

Anyway, I'll send you another one! I did read it and try to respond though.

@VampireWombat - Thank you ;)

@ranger_brian_new - Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

@geekgrrl - Love the icon ;D So.. if I give you our address, would we receive some of those cookies? :)

@Kevin - Thank you Kevin ;) It's cool that a lot of the people that we started with have been hitting the 1 year mark!

@hedgehogboy5 - Awesome! Thanks for posting the picture! Mind if we include it in a gallery somewhere?

Given that Beth was saying that she'd make John into a pet if he got himself eaten by Sylene, I would say that's a definite maybe :D

..... well... i'm satisfied. i think you did a great job on it. the lighting adds to the dramaticness, and the comic still keeps it's humor while being story driven and dramatic. to #100, i say WIN. to the suprise i say "animated dancing naked john" is uber win.

@hedgehogboy5 - Okay, I'll have to make a whole new section for it, so it'll probably be a bit, but I'll get it on there soon :)

@model S - Thank you, I'm really glad that you guys enjoyed the surprise.. June put a lot of time and effort into picking out the pictures.

@3.4 - Well, that's what happens when you take responsibility. Your insane boss beheads you. Important lessons, TOGM style :)

Oh definitely :) Tom and Bob being Thomas and Robert.. The idea of zombies able to carry out conversations and make deals... :)

We got into his music with Still Alive from Portal, but this one is probably the one that I'm most pleased to have heard... Though, the Wil Wheaton version of My Monkey that he did at PAX, I believe, is up there as well :D
