Author note to follow.

Sorry, I was doing some last minute fixing on the file, and didn't have time to write out a proper author's note at the time.

Well, FanExpo came and went... My highlights were seeing a few people I knew (as well as one I wasn't expecting) and Lar, of course. Unfortunately, we didn't get to speak to Felicia Day, but June got some pictures of her, so that was nice. The kids got some stuff, and they got to see the people who do G4 Tv and Brentalfloss who makes funny, retro video game music stuff...

Apparently they hit capacity and were telling people who were still in line that they couldn't go in... Can you imagine paying upwards of $100 for a weekend pass, and then being told that you couldn't go in for something that was only showing that day? Man, I'd be livid... It was pretty packed though, so I hope that next year, if they do it again, that it's some place bigger... And that we can get a booth instead. That would be pretty awesome!

I had a lot of fun drawing this one. All three characters seemed to want to be drawn decently. My favourite is Sylene in Panel 3-b.

I wonder, how close is Karl to Marshmallow Gherkin now? I haven't been using his photo for reference at all, except for the first time, and he seems to have developed a life of his own ...

PS: The spotlight/flashlight concept was all my idea.. I giggled like a schoolgirl when I was finished drawing it.

Fry thieves will not be tolerated!
Though, Chuck seems somewhat aghast for some reason... xP

@Skrael: It's a good thing for a character to develop a personality of its own! (Though, this seems pretty in-character. Spontaneousness, and somewhat irrational or misplaced priorities and thought processes. Definitely me.)

I lol'd. This guy totally has his priorities straight. Screw the warehouse, fries are TOTALLY a much more pressing matter at hand. I'd beat a -beep- if someone took my fries.

Hey I've missed a few strips. Been on holiday from work for a week.
Just been reading the last one does anyone else think the gag's getting old? Obviously if the dead man was a zombie he would've attacked already. John/Thomas is smart enough to know that
Still it is funny.
By the way I'm aware that it takes weeks for one scene to play out usually so how long has it been since John/Thomas woke up from his point of view. I'd guess about a week maybe nine days...

@MarshmallowGherkin - It certainly wasn't the discussion Chuck was planning...

@Syaoran - The funny part is, it's still TOGM... Maybe deep fried TOGM, but still ultimately TOGM...

@snoog - Actually, if it is a 3 or 4 who is just masquerading as a corpse, it might delay the attack... Granted, the broom whacking isn't going to accomplish much, but the tied limbs and mouth would help keep him safe.

As for the days, I'd guess maybe .. 3? lol.

How's tf2 for you Magravan? My 360 just came back to life, so I'm playing on that right now.

I make a good Engineer, a decent medic and a sort of okay Pyro. My Scout, Soldier, Demoman and Heavy aren't crimes against nature, but my Sniper is a hellbeast that should be consumed by fire. And salt poured on the code... I don't think I've gotten a single kill as a sniper.

Oh, and I'm liking the concept of a Spy, I just have no luck whatsoever. Almost inevitably when I almost run out of cloak, I am hit by someone running, regardless how out of the way I am. And I can't seem to backstab anyone for the life of me.

Me and mouse based aiming are not on good terms, I suppose. (Though, I did manage to wreak havoc as a Medic one time with the syringe gun... Took out 3 or 4 guys in short order before a Pyro nailed me from behind ;) )

All in all, I like it. It hasn't gotten to the point where I am bored yet, and it's not impossible to put down for a while and pick it back up...

Do the 360 and PC versions co-mingle? Or is it a case of PCs play with PCs and Consoles with their respective Console?

zombies can cry?

I like Sylene... she's kind of nuts and tends to overreact to things. And she has purple hair. So.. more sylene is a good thing.

Glad to hear you had a good time at FanExpo. I want to go there sometime...
Skrael (I'm the artist)
@taltamir
Well they can sweat and blush in our world, why not cry? :P Seriously, let's ask Magravan this one!
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@taltamir - Haha :) Well, Sylene is a bit of a show person... I wouldn't put it past her to have come up with a method to shed tears :)

@bbedlam - I enjoy her too :) She's fun to write for because you don't have to follow a logical A -> B path... Sylene's more of an A -> & path type..

@Skrael - Thanks :P

Hey man, gotta appreciate the cardiac attack inducing deep frying goodness. Even if it is TOGM, it's deepfried and every fat american's dream food. Even after decomposition. 8D
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Doesn't hurt that it wont make them fat (outside of overfilling the stomach and forcing it to expand until it's been properly digested.)
greengirl77 (Guest) edit delete reply
I would definitely take her down if she had my fries. Dude, if she stole the fries, she is not innocent! One Killer! Fry Stealer! Take her out!
Fortunado1972 (Guest) edit delete reply
On the comic a few days ago. Was that Chad and Selene on the monitor? BTW; how DO zombies digest?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Greengirl77 - I know! That should be worth a limb or two, right?

@Fortunado1972 - We'll be finding out who at least one of the two is soon :)

TOGM zombies have a particular form of digestion. If they ate an apple, for example, it would literally sit in their stomach until it rotted away. TOGM, on the other hand, is broken down over a very short period of time. That's why R.Z. was able to go from being a chunky little bugger to normal in a fairly short period of time.

PC players only play against PC gamers. Why? THE CONSOLE DOESN'T HAVE ANY UPDATES D=. Combat medic can be a very good class with the unlocks, I recommend you use all of them for combat medic. As for spy, make sure to use the Cloak And Dagger when you get it. It's recharge is so fast, that if you STAND STILL you'll regain charge. Very good for passing large distances unseen. Also, enemy dispensers replenish your cloak, and ammo does that as well. And I said sniper was one of the hardest ones =)
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Well that sucks! I actually killed my Ubersaw trying out the crafting system (Had 3 Ubersaws, figured I'd get more....) and I want the suped up syringe gun, but I don't know about the Kritzkrieg... It seems like you're giving up the Uber, which is a pretty darn good thing for the medic types...

I do have the Cloak and Dagger, but I am not used to checking it and making sure it hasn't run out... It's one of those things I'd like to get to learn eventually, when I have more time.

As for the sniper, I just am not a good sniper in games... I don't have the mouse control, unfortunately. Again, something I might be good at eventually if I practiced, but I am a lot less inclined to learn Sniper. I'm okay with having 1 class that I just have no interest in being... (2 if you count the Scout, which I'm also not very interested in..)

I think that as I get the upgrades that are useful, I'll be more inclined to play the classes though... A heavy with Natascha ruins me, but one without I can usually escape.. that slowdown is murder though :) (Literally)
Onecanofsprite edit delete reply
Onecanofsprite
Exactly why natsacha is called overpowered. Use it yourself, and you won'tbe complaining. Kritzkreig is a more offensive version of the uber, used for when you have to kill a LOT of people. What were you thinking though getting rid of your ubersaws? It's a straight upgrade :P. Any other unlocks you got? And a trading system is coming VERY soon, so hang onto your items for now. I'm actually decent with scouting, especially on 2fort, where I play defensive and ambush attacker's medics or attackers themselves, and pick up quite a few points. I also play 360 and PC versions, because I can =D.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Oh cool, if you're on the PC version, I'm on there as Magravan :) I've got my friend who plays it as well, so we were playing together... My one dislike is the fact that you can't seem to ... maintain your team.... So one time I'm working together with him, and then one of us gets swapped into another team, and now I'm against him... It really screws with strategizing ;)

As for the upgrades, I was trying to make a medic item (either the mask or the Blutz) and figured if I killed all the Medic stuff, maybe I'd get a medic thing back... THEN I read the crafting guide... *cough*)
taltamir (Guest) edit delete reply
so, you are saying that this is something sylene did artificially, on purpose... and not something all zombies can do?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
I will say that Sylene either has the ability or is faking it convincingly, and that typically Zombies don't have that. That being said, it might be an upgrade. I'll have to see how inclined June is to adding it into future pictures and decide based on that...

Sometimes she draws things (like Beth blushing on a previous comic) that I don't intend, but since our comic is based on a society where Zombies are trying to be more Human, it makes sense that they would have certain upgrades available that would make it more realistic... So I try to make the storyline reflect what she's drawn, and find a way to make it plausible.

Sorry if it makes suspension of disbelief harder.

Rage quitting and that god damn autobalance are issues in this game. The more your team wins, the more people rage quit. Another thing is although I don't know HOW,but if you get a medic class token and craft that with 4 weapons, you get a class specific weapon. Community weapons also can only be obtained through crafting, so check the crafting article here for what you need: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/crafting .

Geez guys! Get a forum! *wink*
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
I don't rage quit, but there are times when I'll leave out of boredom.. If I'm getting killed within seconds by some uber team that has VIP benefits and then having to sit waiting for a respawn, that's not very fun.
Onecanofsprite edit delete reply
Onecanofsprite
Add those stupid VIP servers to your blacklist. They're annoying, unfair, and partly ILLEGAL. I recommend looking for the TF2ware mod, you'll have great fun playing that.
Euricy (Guest) edit delete reply
How come getting food is such an issue for John/Thomas if the zombies eat fries and hamburgers and stuff? How can the zombies eat regular food any way?
RedJar (Guest) edit delete reply
Looking back over the last few comics, I finally figured out what it was that bugged me about corpsey mcdeadguy. he looks exactly like john in most frames... if john, you know, was dead... and had a beard... yeah... anyways. Carry on.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Onecanofsprite - Yeah, I know what you mean... I don't know if one guy was hacking or a VIP or what, but he actually beat a Scout to the center point as a non-scout... It's insane.

@Euricy - Everything that zombies eat, whether it looks like Hamburgers, fries or whatever else, is all reconstituted TOGM. It is processed, coloured and textured, but ultimately, it's still the same stuff that Robert's been feeding them... Just prettied up.. :)

@RedJar - I think Ol Corpsey was based loosely on Jonathon Coulton :)

I love it when people play with tropes like that.
