We've reached the end of book 1. To anyone who is still here from the start, thank you for sticking with us all this time, to anyone who joined along the way, thank you for helping us to keep going!

We've put up a forum which also has an Angry Faerie space (We're not opening up in general, but we agreed to share it a while ago, so we're sticking to our promise.) I also encourage anyone and everyone to post an advertisement to their comic in the Other Comics section. You don't even have to create an account to post!

Okay, that out of the way... Wow. This update just didn't want to go in on time. June hit some delays because she was watching my cousin's 2 boys, so she had to finish it on the last day... And apparently one or both of us have a bot on our computer, so our Internet Provider has decided to shut down our account until we get it sorted out. Of course, said sorting would be a lot easier if we had the name of the bot... Or the internet at home to work with... Or ... nevermind, pointless train of thought ;)

So anyways, I just wanted to give a big shout out to my dad, who was instrumental to us getting this update out on time (He took the file to his house, and emailed it to me while I was at work..) I doubt he's going to read the comic, and if he does, I doubt he'll read these author notes, but he definitely saved our bacon today. Anyone who enjoys TOGM at it's regularly scheduled time (Rather than Thursday at Noon EST), hopefully shares my appreciation for what he did.

June wont be putting up a message today, unfortunately, but hopefully I'll have our comics cleaned and good to go by Friday / Saturday, so she might add her comment later.

Anyways, I hope you guys will stick around until after our hiatus, which will finish up in time for the Monday update (Sorry, too many great comics going on hiatus and making me sad, couldn't resist the good-natured poke at them)

Enjoy your weekend!!

Oh, completely unrelated and kind of embarrassing P.S.: I was playing Basketball the other day with a guy from work that is probably twice my age.. I was originally playing in my work shoes, which aren't meant for that, and I was worried I was going to bust my ankle, so I played in my socks instead (It's on a nice tennis court-y thing, so it wasn't too bad)...

Things were going alright until I kicked the back of his shoe and mangled my toes! I've got two REAAAALLY bruised toes right now. He also kicked my butt, which is just depressing. I mean, basketball was never really my best sport, but he's TWICE MY AGE AND AN ACADEMIC!!! So anyways, embarrassment and busted up toes for me.

Fortunately, being the good guy that he is, he's agreed to a rematch when my foot is looking a little better, so I can hopefully redeem some of my lost pride! Now, if I could just learn how to properly shoot a basketball again, yeesh I'm out of practice!

Oooh... it's like a cliffhanger. I'm sorry I forced you to rewrite book 2 from scratch due to not allowing you to use the Draugr, but I think it's for the best. Now we have all kinds of mysteries to wait for.

But now I have to wait for Monday?? Arrgh.. damn you and your hiatus!

And really nice job on the coloring. It keeps getting better :)

No! Don't succumb to the hiatus..ness. o.o

Additionally: John's expression in panel two fills me with much glee.

John just found his way into the secret underground container, like the one from LOST.
Oooor he broke the world. xD
Thrudd (Guest) edit delete reply
OK - I didn't see that one coming but then again I am one of the few people on this continent who could never be bothered to watch lost. ^_-

EPIC cliffhanger. So I take it this means one of his friends before the apocalypse saw this coming, and built a shelter. And tom called him crazy.

Whu...?

Of all the bushes he gets behind, he gets behind the one with the entrance to the secret lair...?

And ...

But ...

@Linden - We're having him over for dinner on the weekend.. Not $25 steaks, but something nice that June's going to cook up :)

@bbedlam - Yeah, now I have to come up with some crazy reason why there's a vault instead of a 'not-zombie' invasion! This is almost as bad as MG figuring out the turtle hybrid theory...

@MarshmallowGherkin - We must! After this herculean effort, we need a break! And waiting until Monday for our next update gives us some much needed down time :D

@Ferix - It's a cliffhanger! It's not supposed to make sense! :)

@3.1 - I assume you're referencing Lost... I watched maybe 20 minutes total of various episodes... All I know is there is a big hefty guy and something to do with a plane... And time travel, due to people's comments on Facebook and such...

@Jacob Gristwood - I... don't... know?

@Ice the frosty cat - We were going for :O at the least... Curses!

@geekgrrl - Secret underground container?

@Thrudd - I am also one, and I have to say, this one wasn't supposed to be seen coming... :) You guys are very good at guessing, so it's nice to have something surprise you, even if you didn't really have any good clues...

@Onecanofsprite - Wow... Yeah.. that's pretty much it ;D

@alparrott - You'd almost think that he's got memories trying to resurface, directing him subconsciously.... Nah :P

He just happens to cut his hand on this specific spot and it opens the door-usually -wait usually its just an impossible coincidence. I forgot one of the biggest cliches in the writing. Coincidence follows the hero no matter how impossible.

My original thought was that it had to be planned and thus someone with knowledge of where he would be at that moment would have built a lab in advance.
But now I suspect that they will be welcoming him back and he wont know who they are-maybe a flash or two but that's it.

PS
I tried lost but it was too disconnected.
FLCL made more sense, and was definitely more fun to watch.

Latin for "God in the machine". It's a literary term with a definition too long to list here. But I think that's what we've got for this page
snoog (Guest) edit delete reply
bbedlam I'm confused Why did you make them rewrite book 2 did they use something you created their pictures? I can't wait to see what happens next could we please have just a small clue I can't stand it.
Magravan edit delete reply

@3.1 - "There is no coincidence, only the illusion of coincidence" :D

I can assure you that it is not a time travel plot, but I will leave you to decide about the coincidence if you're still around for the relevant revelations ;) I never got into Lost because at first I was under the impression it was a themed reality show, and then after I'd missed a few episodes, I just decided that I wouldn't bother catching up... And since it pretty much got the finale universally reviled, it seems pointless to check it out now ;)

@Joobaloob56 - I'm not sure that this would fit into Deus Ex Machina, to be honest. The term came into reference for when a plot had become so convoluted and complex that the only way for it to be resolved was to have a divine figure lowered in and magically wave his wand...

I would agree somewhat if you argued contrived, cliched or stupid and lacking in originality. But his problems have not even begun to be complex, and this certainly is not the perfect solution to any of them.

@snoog - He was kidding because I was joking that we were stealing his idea of his not zombies coming up from the ground ;) Oh, one clue... I haven't seen a full episode of Lost, and it's not time travel. So any connection to them are coincidental at best. Does that count? :)

John's -or should I say Thomas's - face in panel 2 really says it all. Now the question is, does he go down all by himself or go running for Beth.
snoog (Guest) edit delete reply
Thanks for explaining and no it doesn't really count but I suppose I'll enjoy it more if I have to wait. I know your busy but any change of doing extra pages? I don't think I can stand all the waiting I really want to know what's happpening roll on monday.

@Eternal_Phantom / Snoog - It sure would be cruel to take a break from John's POV on Monday, wouldn't it? :)
snoog (Guest) edit delete reply
Yes it would. But I'd bet £1000 that what you've got planned.

I've been revisiting the first few comics. And guess what? HIS NAME ISN'T JOHN! IT'S LIKE FREAKING HANCOCK ALL OVER AGAIN! Except in the future, and he isn't drunk half the time, and he doesn't save the world, (or does he...?) and there are zombies. o_e
Syaoran (Guest) edit delete reply
My god, what a convient place to start bleeding! xD I dunno why but I got a feeling of Terminator for a second when I saw the last panel. xD Anyways, awesome as always guys, can't wait for the next part~
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Crayons - No, John is just the name that he's taken on... But it does breed the question: Which is his true identity? The past he can't remember, or the future that he's just started recently... He's not going to let go of it that easily...

@Syaoran - I don't think that the thing was supposed to be bled on... Just a DNA sampling... But yes, it was an awfully convenient place to hide... And thanks for commenting, I'm glad you're still reading :D
Syaoran (Guest) edit delete reply
Hmm, that blood will be an awful pain for them to wipe off the sampler then, poor maintance guy, probably a poor One made to do the wiping too! xD

And of course I'm still reading, I actually look forward to Sunday's 9PM PST and Wednesdays 9PM PST cause I get to read the next part~ I'm just way too lazy to comment...I'll work on that xD

That makes me really happy to hear that some people actually look forward to update time :)

Forum? So I can't post my theory about John here? That he was an experiment by Robert to make zombies human, which gave him amnesia/catatonia long enough for him to be considered dead instead of undead and dumped by a two, causing his bad mood?
