Getting close! 1 more to go until the end of Book 1.

We put up a forum! greymeat.com/comicforum/ that's basically for discussion about the comic and other good ... forum-y stuff... This is one of the first steps in us having our own webspace... It's kind of a mess, but you can check greymeat.com to see how the site is progressing...

We may have stolen an idea from Angry Faerie which had a rather lengthy "Not Zombie" invasion recently here... I guess you'll see what's interested in John's blood on Thursday!

Enjoy the week everyone, hope to see you on the forum :D

Sorry about the cheesy art in panel 2, but I though that Panels 3 and 4 made up for it!

And OMG WTF IS GOING ON IN THIS COMIC??!! *hides eyes with hands but peeks through fingers*

Yiikes, I'd be more worried about the bleeding than an (admittedly odd) earthquake.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Pfft. He's a dude. A little cut from a thorn or branch might provoke some swearing, but it's not much compared to an earthquake happening right around you :D

I was more thinking along the lines of:
Blood = Brain
Brain = Zombie food. lol.

Oh yes, that's a good point :D Fortunately the PSOs drove away :D

I loved this one! Hope to see some more of the outside world here. June - Great work on the nighttime effects. Panel 3 rocked ;)

The artwork looks really good, particularly the coloring. Not to say it doesn't usually look good :)

And if it turns out the Draugr are after John now, I will sue you. Just saying, my lawyers are ready :P Although it would be amusing to see the Draugr mocking the pitiful Ones :)

I have two theories as to whats goin on, it isn't just the people who've been hit by this affliction, it's the plants and the living loam itself that now craves and feeds mindlessly on human blood, and by dripping onto it, our friend here is in serious shit XD

OR

The same principle, only for the 1's, they want want want fresh meat and BAD

or the rumbling could have absolutely nothing to do with John's blood and is mere coincidence to freak him out. Of course, now he's going to have to hide the cut, somehow I doubt band-aids are common Post Enlightenment.
svenska människan (Guest) edit delete reply
I bet the earthquake is created because some zombies felt the scent of his blood which mean living human which means.... BRRAAAAIIIINNN!!!! >:'O

@Lessum - Ha! I love the icon :D

@bbedlam - Damn you! *goes and rewrites the script* If anyone dislikes the direction that this goes now, we can blame bbedlam and claim we were planning on making Draugr, which would have been waaay cooler :D

@DreamSanguine - What style? :)

@Ferix - Interesting theory :)

@Eternal_Phantom - That would be fiendishly deceptive of us, wouldn't it?

@svenska manniskan - Maaaybe!

@Ice the frosty cat - If I keep doing this to him, he's never going to want to leave the house! Poor guy keeps wrecking things every time he goes outside! It's not a hospitable world, apparently :D

This strip is brilliant. I can't put my finger on it, but panel 4 is awesome.

As Obiwan once explained the difference between a moon and a star-base so too must I say-
That's no earthquake!
That's a stampede!
FLEE FLEE BEFORE THE HORDE!!!
And bring on the TOGM!!!
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Jacob Gristwood - I'm definitely enjoying the the night scenes... It's a pretty cool lighting effect that she's done, and it makes the strip look almost like it is an entirely different art style... I can't put my finger on what's different, but I like how this looks.

@3.1 - And who I am to argue with Obi-wan? *rewrite rewrite rewrite* :)

@Tamdrin - It's the little things ;)

@geekgrrl - John should be kept on a leash inside the house, and not allowed to go outside for any reason... Every time he goes out, something bad happens...

HO- SHIT! :O

That rumble is the sound of a billion angry bushes uprooting themselves to squash their perceived assailant! D:

I'm sure of it!

(Also: Blood-drop falling sequence was nicely done!)
Lunaroki edit delete reply
Lunaroki
Ooo! I know what that is! That's the sound of hundreds of zombified cats and dogs racing toward the smell of fresh non-zombified blood! Oh horrors! D=
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@MarshmallowGherkin - Don't mess with Bushes.. Wait, that can be taken in soooo many ways :D

@Lunaroki - We still haven't decided how animals fared, to be honest :D
Tim (Guest) edit delete reply
@ Megravin - They contain brains. 'Nuff said?
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
Animals? Yes, indeed they do... Does that mean that they became part of the undead? I don't know... They represent a lot of factors that I don't want to introduce yet... If they can talk, do I really want talking zombie squirrels in this comic? I mean, we're pretty weird as it is, but that might strain what little credibility I have... There are a few other considerations as well, but suffice to say that I've considered it and I haven't come up with a definitive answer either way. As of now, the fate of animals in the world of TOGM is unclear.

Besides, once you accept that human level intelligence rodents were part of the zombie plague, humanity wouldn't have bothered fighting back... Just "Ah screw it, we're done for." :)

I was referring to the way Skrael did the leaves, lighting and the blood. For some reason they just popped out more and I kinda went "wooow" inside.

ahh! I really love the art recently! The improvement is amazing! And the pacing and layout of this page are perfect!

That rumble could be his stomach. After all, all he's eaten in 2 days is a handfull of apples. If I were him, I'd let myself be zombified just to get some food!
3.1 (Guest) edit delete reply
@ShallowBay91

But then he wouldn't really-it's still just TOGM-I love it but everyone else not so much. Would you really give up your mortality, sense of self, memories, and IQ (because he'd only ever be a 1) JUST for an easy meal? You die! your body lives on but everything that was 'you' is gone forever-or so it seems.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@DreamSanguine - I agree.. I'm not sure what she did, but it looks almost like an animated movie style...

@ShallowBay91 - Haha :) He did manage to save a few cans of food, though we haven't shown him eating anything... He is still hungry though :)

@3.1 - Agreed.. It's definitely going to be a question that gets asked at some point... If it's a choice between death or living on as a 1, what do you do? Who you were is going to depart anyways... Do you take Immortality as a One? Or Accept death and depart the mortal coil? Something to think about, for sure.
3.1 (Guest) edit delete reply
@Magravan

immortality as a one eating the equivilant of cardboard for the rest of my life if anything at all-YEAH IM ALL GUNG-HO FOR THAT! Golly jeepers gee wiz! -.-

Guest (Guest) edit delete reply
I guess you have a point but im still wondering about memories. What I'm worried about is the after me. As I understand it most memories fade leaving you empty to some degree. I just wouldnt want to impose a shambling and torturous eternity on anyone or anything.

If it were actually me and not just a resemblence of me...I might go for it but I wouldn't ,say create that type of being knowing its very likely fate. Its a very similar question to that of parents having children with horrible defects. I still end up thinking about the possible happiness that 1 (or the child) might have but without expeience I err on the side that doesn't hurt anyone but me.

John is going to create some kind of crazy zombie rampage just leaving his blood around like that. Stupid bastard lol
The strip as always is awesome original story, great facial expressions, and zombies who could ask for more.

Well, it -is- the end of Book 1 tomorrow.. So something is definitely going to happen to wrap things up on an interesting note... Well, interesting to me anyways... We'll see what you guys think ;)
Thrudd (Guest) edit delete reply
New reader here - love the insanity so far.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the rumbling may have something to do with the "nobody else sees it" green slime that seems very active on its own.

You would think that it was some sort of intelligent parasitic creation. Nah, that would be totally ridiculous.
3.1 (Guest) edit delete reply
Oh no! WE'RE STAMPEEDING TOWARDS A CLIFFHANGER!!!
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
@Thrudd - Awesome, thanks for letting us know you're out there!

A blood sucking intelligent parasitic creation? Dammit! What does everyone keep aluding to vampires?! :P

@3.1 - Might be a cliffhanger to the cliffhanger... apparently one of our computers has a bot on it, so our internet provider has decided to suspend our account. I believe we have a plan in place that will work, but if it's late, this is why :)

Absolute latest that it should be, however, is 12 hours... If need be, I'll bring it to work with me tomorrow and upload it from here!
3.1 (Guest) edit delete reply
I frickin hate bots. My solution to most problems(as long as you're using windows) is a quick Microsoft System restore. For those who dont know its the easiest way to rid yourself of Ransomeware (fake security like Vista Security 2010)-you just have to run it from the startup menu (press F9 or esc when it asks you and if it doesnt use another computer to find out how)
You have to do it from startup because once its on your pc it forces a reboot and then blasts your system every time windows starts. Buts stats enough of that. Ad-aware by lavasoft is pretty awesome and free and it has live monitoring thats cheap on system resources. Aside from that-Im not a pro and am not responsible for what you do, and GOOD LUCK!!! You'll need it.
Magravan edit delete reply
Magravan
The major problem is that they'll tell us that there is a bot, but not which one, and because we have multiple computers, we aren't sure whose computer is the one with the problem...

And apparently they might not be able to remove the bot anyways... and if we don't get it removed, we wont get internet.. And if we think we've got it and are wrong, we'll lose access for a week...

Doh.
